As a client of @Geasy for his content, he offered me a free audit for a site.

Got an old site of mine audited, that's been sitting untouched for 5 months or so.

The report was delivered quickly and is very detailed.

It highlighted many aspects such as how accessible the site is, indexing issues, missings metas, canonical issues, image issues, alt texts, H1s etc.

What was also very good and well thought out was the missing link opportunities. This gave suggestions as to competitors links and what to go after.

Really good service for the price and very informative, but like anything you need to take action on these suggestions.

At first, I thought this would be just a blatant site audit like most people generate with online tools but I was completely wrong. Not that the actual audit was very detailed specifying my main issue with the site which was keyword cannibalization (I had 2-3 articles and categories) trying to rank for the same keyword. Following the advice on the audit, and doing 301 redirects after a week my keyword moved from #38 to #12 which is a huge win that shows that I only need a few on-page changes to reach #1.

Another thing that I believe will have a massive impact on the ranking of my website is internal links. The audit completely showed the right way how to do internal linking, and not linking pages together that don't fall in the same sub-niche.

I really believe that you should invest in technical audits and not links alone as the links won't work if the page health is not how it is supposed to be.
