My account disappeared overnight

I had an instagram account that was inactive, I basically created it to reserve the username
I created the account, added a profile picture, and everything was going well.
Suddenly when I actually wanted to use it I found that it disappeared. It is still saved on my phone but when I try to login it tells me that the account does not exist.
I tried creating a new account with the same username but it was already "taken"
I searched the username on instagram to see if it is being used and I did not find a single account with the username.

Its officially known as "snooze you lose!" lol next time you register, make it active every week or month, or everything as you say won't be going well, like you found out. Time for a new account, don't waste your time on that as its gone if you even tried forgetting the password to your mobile or whatever, and that didn't work.

I had it fully signed up, and I browsed instagram through it for a while, I even followed instagram's official account.

Sorry but, I think you are wrong here. You are referring to forgotten password.

your account has been claimed, when you are inactive on a account, someone can take over your username by submitting a request to instagram showing proof of your inactivity and showing them that they own that same username over many different platforms.

i have been doing this for a long time, it’s unfortunate but its your own fault for not being active, knowing you had a good username.

move on and charge it to the game.

what does this has to do to anything with a username claim???

that is when you submit “my account has been hacked” his account did not get hacked, instagram gaveaway his username to another user because he was not using the username.

In this case is better if you contact customer support, also try to access through any link you receive in your email from that account like the link to verify the account or the confirmation and check the info match if you already tried all that customer is the las option.

Yes, I'm sure. They actually respond quickly. A few days ago they reinstated one of my client's accounts. All he had to do was provide a pic of himself holding his ID to prove he owns the account.

It happens sometimes due to inactivity. Create another account and make it active.
