This sounds like a great little trick.

I have been trying to set up an account, but so far no go. I copy and pasted the link given on page 4 of this thread, but it does not seem to work. I believe it said that I need a API key. I think it was post 149. It said:
"TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT:
statusmass.com/post.php?adduser=100link&user=your_statusnet_name&pass=your_statusnet_password&email=some_email_address_for_lost_api_keys

  • Note: You will receive an api key. You will need this in order to make posts!"
Did I miss something.? I would love to participate in this. Great Job Moronic_Kaos.

StatusMass has been taken over by a new owner. It is probably going to be offline for awhile, until he gets the code to a more manageable condition.

ya same here man, looking to getsatisfaction for some help but nothing, can't figure out why this isn't posting

Fixed! I sign up with a openID account but didn't fill email field, once you fill it up, youl'll get an email with a link to click on, then your new posts will get published...

Now I have another question, how to send posts from identi.ca to all other status.net servers? I know I have to sign up one to one, and then?...

Yeah, initially I was thinking you needed to use twitterfeed RSS to update all services. but now it looks like most people can't get that to work for all statusnet servers (at least i couldn't) trying to post identi.ca to all other servers is probably not the best option b/c things could go wrong and might not even be possible? you could use the suggestions like statusmass that other people are doing, or try out the wordpress plugin

See, I liked the statusnet/laconica platform because not only is posting easy to do by remote, but:

  • You can get links on the homepage. Even wordpress MU sites can't claim that
  • There is a limited amount of posts per page. Hence, (if properly installed of course), the site will never look too much like a linkfarm. The links will simply "take their turn" on each page. It's beautiful.
  • We've already proven that Google loves to crawl them. It has some social network properties, and we all know Google loves that.
My next project is kind of a ScrapeBox clone, but a little more advanced. Let me know when you plan on doing this, as I'd help you out with getting some decent links. Remember, these servers will mean nothing without some good time invested in their PR. Especially if we could get it on more than one page per server.

Hi Moronic,

Scrapebox is a pretty intense tool. I have it myself; and I must say that it is incredible: a fairly unique keyword tool, url scraper, various filters, good proxy testing and support, blog posting. And the op is providing great support and adding new features all the time at a very nice price point.

If I might suggest, someone with your talent might want to produce a tool that would support local search submissions. The tool would need to search each site for an existing listing, add specific name, address, phone number, keywords, description, services provided, product list. brand list. No need for a synomizer. the sites need to be the same, with same content so that Google Maps relates them. A blackhat commenter might be an addon idea - probably not appropriate though.

An interesting thing is that many of the local search sites use third party data provides to make the process a little easier. So that would bring the process down to providing support to 10, maybe 20 sites, instead of the 40 or so local search sites.

I know that is on my wish list.

Just wanted to put a bug in your ear.

Hey everyone,
I am lucky enough to have picked up this project from moronic_kaos with the intention to make it a great, community driven tool. It will remain free to use but I think it should be (as many have already pointed out) restricted to a low number of users.

Here is what I am thinking - Make it available to everyone who has participated in this thread already, as well as a few others who are able to bring something to the table. It can be by creating an automated sign-up script, supplying a clean list of sites, etc...

I also liked the idea of creating a network of Laconica/StatusNet sites that we build the PR on and reap the rewards. I have a few ideas on how to get this organized and, as a small community, I think we can make something of it.

I will toy with ideas of how to get this organized and look forward to your input on making this a really special project. Statusmass.com will be down for a few hours today as I get it transferred over and make a few adjustments and then will return with some sort of invite system to keep it limited to those who supported this great idea and script created by moronic_kaos

Hi all,

I found this thread a little late I guess. I would like to be a part of this. I do like the High PR link process using simple Twitter like sites. Plus it sounds appropriate for me since I am not into much Blackhat. One has to be respectful of the SERPs, though they are certainly not the law.

To give some benefit, I own Scrapebox (a great tool by the way). I can offer some scraping services; but it sound like there are several nice lists available now. I can also offer SEO services by building links with BMD, SB, building Link Wheels/Link Pyramids. And I may be able to offer a site for the network. I would have to look into the tools available for it and the resources that will be used - tools and bandwidth.

I am anxious to check this out. Please let me know.

The site your referring to is currently offline. It was taken over by another person, and he is currently improving on it.

Quick StatusMass update:

Finally worked out an issue with the cron jobs. This was a major hurdle for me.

I am also finding that many of the already posted sites are either going private or using a new sandbox addition to the statusnet script. Many of the higher PR sites have been lost, which makes the necessity of setting up a network of sites controlled by us even more important.

I will accept another 7 people into the StatusMass project. As mentioned before, if you are willing to do some seo work on sites or even set up one of your own PM me the details of what you plan to do on the project.

@197666

You do realize that none of those lists were ever checked to see if they were invite only? The only thing that ever happened was that duplicate sites were filtered out, and the sites that weren't actually statusnet sites were also removed.

Yes, I am aware. I am speaking about ones that I was able to sign up for days ago and have changed their methods since then.

I started with a test list of 45 and I am down to 19. That's 45 that I was able to manually sign up & post on. A few of them have edited their .htaccess to block the API part of the code, some now sandbox new users, some delete new users...

Hi All,

Ive been watching this thread for a couple weeks- aside all the technical work arounds going on, has anyone got the system up and running? (seeing results?)

Im interested in paying someone to set this up for on of my sites as a tester.

PM me if you can do it and your charge.

Cheers!

Really? Everything works fine on my part...title and link.

I'll try and see what's up.

WP-Statusnet if a little fucked, it only posts the title, i see plenty of people on identi.ca with the same problem,
Can any1 tell me how to fix??

for me,.. best method still use twittedfeed safe & ulimited, but max post 5 post/30 min , wp-statusnet.. will get u banned (free hosting & regular paid hosting)...:fest30:

STATUSMASS UPDATE:

We are in the final stages of testing the script and everything is working great at this point.

We still need a few people willing to set up their own sites as part of our network as well as people to do seo work on the new sites. PM ME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BEING PART OF THIS AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO THE TEAM.

Statusmass is so powerful that we need to limit the amount of people using it as I am already seeing many of the established stausnet sites implementing measures to close their registrations or sandboxing new accounts. The only way to keep this going and seeing the long term benefit is by establishing a trusted network of sites and by using it responsibly.

FOR THOSE STILL TRYING TO USE WP-STATUSNET:

As has been explained before in this thread it will get your hosting account banned if you try to use it to link to multiple statusnet sites.
