We create a network of these sites. Now hold on, I've already looked into it. The basic features such as twitterfeed functionality should be compatable with something as simple as HostGator hosting. But exactly how do we get the sites popular?

Make the sites invite-only. In order to apply for membership, the applicant must do some kind of SEO work to contribute to the site (based on what that particular site owner feels is necessary). The site builds popularity & pagerank this way. Once its full of PR and Google Bots, and the site has been somewhat overspammed, just make another one. :)

I think this is one aspect I am going to really pursue. Let's say 200 people were involved with each one setting up 2 of these sites - we are at 400 sites in the network. Instead of everyone signing up on each of the 400 sites we just have to sign up once on a master site and then share the user database table - instant signup! Nobody has to worry about any of the sites deleting their accounts either.

See, I liked the statusnet/laconica platform because not only is posting easy to do by remote, but:

  • You can get links on the homepage. Even wordpress MU sites can't claim that
  • There is a limited amount of posts per page. Hence, (if properly installed of course), the site will never look too much like a linkfarm. The links will simply "take their turn" on each page. It's beautiful.
  • We've already proven that Google loves to crawl them. It has some social network properties, and we all know Google loves that.
My next project is kind of a ScrapeBox clone, but a little more advanced. Let me know when you plan on doing this, as I'd help you out with getting some decent links. Remember, these servers will mean nothing without some good time invested in their PR. Especially if we could get it on more than one page per server.

Thanks a lot for this man! This is one of the best threads for awhile...

Have a blessed one...

Wow - I have been following this, and applaud you for driving this so far.

I really look forward to the new owner and hope that we can all use it responsibly.

Whenever I try and sign up I get the following:

A feed needs to contain publish dates or GUIDs in order to work with twitterfeed

how do I gett this to work?

Please. Read the thread. Stop using twitterfeed.

That goes back to your initial idea of having people doing some seo work on these new sites. I have a few 5-6 year old domains sitting around that I will install this on and start building some dirty scrapebox rapid indexer links, do a few senuke runs etc... to get the ball rolling.

I may throw a private forum on the statusmass domain for everyone who will be involved in this so we can see what each person brings to the table and how to build this network the quickest.

I have a feeling some people will lose interest in this aspect of it because it isn't instant high pr llinks but I see it as a longer term project where this could be a very valuable network.

All the better. Less saturation. ;)

Statusmass user creation doesn't work for now... It gives this: ERROR: You must enter an API Key

Btw, amazing idea : )

I've just gone thru all the thread and like the idea of getting deep linking into my site and not only on the frontpage. Can't wait to give a try.

I can't wait to see the good things you will do next with StatusMass.

Can you tell us what you plan to do?

Thanks

Zeronimo

I'm currently trying to develop this into a long-term link building superstar! Test are going well and I will be opening it up for final tresting for those who have participated in this thread.

For anyone who wants to be part of this, just send me a pm and let me know what you can bring to the project. We need people willing to set up their own statusNet sites, people to do some SEO work on these newly created sites, people to create clean lists of sites already out there, etc... just let us know what you can bring to the project!

StatusMass will always be free to use but we will keep the number of users to a manageable minimum.

For anyone using the wordpress statusnet plugin for wordpress, you might not like setting up every plugin information for every site. using Imacros lets me set up all 30 my high pagerank statusnet sites in less than 1 minute.

If u want to set it up: get Easy Macro Recorder (legally or not)
-register to all the statusnet sites and get the information needed
-install EMR
-rightclick toolbar and Macro Editor
-create a string like
identi.ca
api
username
password
site#2...etc
-install the plugin on your website
-go to the statusnet plugin setup page
-run the Macro

There might be faster ways for this but it works for me.

I set up these two sites... feel free to add them / or use them to test with...

Code:
http://www.echelon-us.net/mashup

http://www.egomash.com/mashup

They are setup the same as the others...

Code:
echelon-us.net/mashup ... api ... username... password etc

Regards...

I can't figure out how to enter this in Laconi.ca at Twitterfeed

Code:
spnbabble.sitepronews.com/

Anyone get it to work?

Again... Twitterfeed doesn't work. Either use the WP-statusnet wordpress plugin or wait for StatusMass to be completed.

hello, morronic, It's been a while I'm on BHW.

Glad to see people like you. The idea was pretty good, and I am eager to see what'on updating.

A little noop question, if we use bit.ly or others shortened link method, how could it be a good backlink to our site.

I was doing some research and I finally find very surprised with the way status.net server giving you backlink. It's great.

But again, if it wasn't full link.. probably, it will lessen the value, as someday no body will see your status anyway. and if nobody see it...

another noop question, is providing full link will warn the status.net owners to consider you as spammer? if that's so.... well BMD will do it better with it's bookmarking sites

I addressed this issue on the first page of this thread. Quote from Matt Cutts himself (the official google to webmaster relations guy)... Basically explains the entire linkjuice will go to the site. The only downside is that this cannot be the ONLY way that your site gets links, as it will look somewhat "sketchy". So make sure you have some other links sitting around before you do this, even if they're garbage.

Here's a link to the post I made:

http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...erytime-you-update-your-blog.html#post1592488

Watch the video first and then read the bit.ly thing. Should clear things up.

another noop question, is providing full link will warn the status.net owners to consider you as spammer?
StatusNET sites aren't run by the same people. There is no central server that can automatically blacklist accounts or link sources. All the administrators would have to do this individually. And since a lot of these sites (even some of the better PR ones) haven't been posted to in weeks (sometimes months), I doubt the admins pay much attention to them anyway.

Look at the sites. They aren't monetizing them. It's a hobby thing, in which most owners seem to have forgotten about.

if that's so.... well BMD will do it better with it's bookmarking sites
I don't know what BMD is. Please clarify.
