Recently, the eBay and dropshipping communities have been buzzing about the issue of IP leaks through WebRTC, even when using a proxy. So, what is WebRTC, and why does this disclose your real IP information to websites? Is there a way to fix this WebRTC leak?

1. WHAT IS WEBRTC?​


WebRTC enables communication between devices and browsers without the need for plugins or supporting software. Simply put, WebRTC allows you to make calls, video calls, send documents, and more on the web.

WebRTC leak refers to the situation where your real IP information is exposed through WebRTC, even if you are using a proxy. This happens because websites obtain your IP information based on the WebRTC UDP protocol. Since this is how browsers operate, even if you use a proxy or other methods to change your IP, the WebRTC functionality in the browser still exposes your real IP address.

2. HOW DOES WEBRTC LEAK AFFECT YOU?​


For regular internet users, it doesn't have any impact. However, for those using proxies or other methods to change their IP, WebRTC leaks reveal to websites that you are faking your IP, which can lead to access restrictions or account lockouts.

3. SIGNS OF IP LEAK THROUGH WEBRTC​


You can check if you are experiencing a leak on IP scoring websites such as:

Compare the IP addresses listed under the "My IP" and "WebRTC" sections. If they don't match, you are experiencing a leak. Additionally, you can check the IP location by accessing certain websites. For example, if you are using a proxy to access eBay, you can check the IP location detected by eBay through the following link: https://signinalert.ebay.com/sgninalrt/sessions

4. HOW TO DEAL WITH WEBRTC LEAKS?​


Use VPN as a foundation: You can combine VPN and proxy usage to avoid leaks. First, activate the VPN (choose a location that closely matches the proxy), and then connect to the proxy to access the web normally. This way, even when reconnecting or refreshing, you won't risk exposing your original IP. However, note that even if the IP locations match, the IP ranges of the VPN and proxy may not be identical, so this is not the optimal solution.

Disable WebRTC: A simple way to prevent IP detection through WebRTC is to disable the WebRTC feature in your browser. However, disabling WebRTC will affect the functionality of the browser and may raise suspicion, leading websites to block access or continuously ask for verification.

Obfuscate WebRTC IP detection results: To avoid arousing suspicion, you can obfuscate the WebRTC IP detection results, preventing websites from obtaining this information due to reasons other than intentional obstruction. This way, the website will see that this information cannot be obtained, not realizing that you intentionally prevented it.

Provide the Proxy's IP as the result when WebRTC detects IP: This method mimics a real user more naturally. However, it only works with proxies that support UDP.

To implement these solutions, you may need to use suitable tools for each method. For method 1, you may need to purchase a VPN to combine with your proxy usage, and for method 2, you can use browser extensions to disable WebRTC.

For methods 3 and 4, you can use anti-detection software (antidetect browser). However, note that each antidetect browser has different mechanisms for preventing WebRTC leaks. Some only support disabling WebRTC.

You need an OpenVPN config with your UDP proxy I believe

I mean I can use Proxifier or Proxycap with UDP capable proxies, but not directly in browser.
Proxifier and Proxycap doesn't support UDP even if you have Socks5 proxy support UDP .
Use SSTap for windows

Do you know if there’s any solution for Selenium to prevent this IP leak? Didn’t really get anywhere with googling yet

in firefox go to about:config and serach for media.peerconnection.enabled then set the value to False
in chrome official webRTC plugin might help.
 
You can use a Socks5 proxy with OpenVPN to give you the best of both worlds
