Even tho I've been learning for a few months(not really learning continuosly), and I feel like I know how it works, but at the same time I feel like I don't know SEO at all

Ik this seems stupid, but idk how to describe the feeling

How can I fix this?

Seo changes pretty fast so things are usually conflicting. this is a great place to stay up to date on things. the best way to learn is by trying and see what works for you

I felt like that for a while also. I started my SEO career in house for a company. Been here almost a year and a half and I feel like I finally just started to feel comfortable with abilities. It really is a trial and error and seeing what works and what doesn't. But def keeping up with SEO forums and blogs is a great way to get ideas and see what is and isn't working for others.

This is not just for SEO. It applies to all things. This will change as you gain experience.

Don't just read tutorials.
Get your hands dirty with REAL projects.
Start your website's and implement your knowledge.
Face failures and learn from the mistakes.
Then you will feel confident about your abilities.
This is how every professional learns.

You begin to get more clarity once you begin to apply what you've been learning, because in that process you'll be learning and unlearning some. You'd realize what works and what doesn't.

Use what you learned in practice.
+1
but don't try with real (others) projects
just get one expired domain in your favorite niche (so you can work on it for long time without motivation?) . I used to do this for about 1 year and it worked

I used to feel the same, I feel like the real turning point is once you start ranking your own websites a lot (self proof of concept) and when you reach the point
where 90% of what people tell you is stuff you already know.
When I realised that I can no longer learn new things watching many seo content then I realize their isnt much more many of these people can teach me.

Then you need to dig deeper, you know most white hat, now you start learning grey hat, things you try to tell yourself are not THAT bad morally but can make you money.

Then you reach to black hat, which is infinitely bigger but filled with infinetly more misinformation, untested concepts and google telling you "you are not that guy"

when stuff you test that worked for others does nothing for you.

I dont think their is ever an end to black hat information, all you will really ever want is just one winning method to make your money then you start not caring about most other

niche black hat things until your method dries up and you need another.

I think most people can be allowed to call themself an SEO after they know 99% of white hat material and a few grey and black hat stuff.

You can obviously make a lot of money doing white hat SEO work and outreach for companies etc.

If money making is the proof of your SEO to an extent then you dont actually need to be some mega nerd to be doing well.

You will have black hat "experts" still making little money when their methods dry up over someone who builds a legitimate business.

then you have black hats who earn your yearly in a single month.

just my personal take.

Dig deep and practice or you will get confused from time to time.

It's because what you've learned is from multiple sources with different use cases and often has conflicting theories and results. If you don't practice or dig deep into why and how it works, you will get confused for sure.

Sometimes your knowledge learned from so many sources can make you confused. Because Google hasn't any fixed pattern for ranking similarly many SEO folks misguide people to keep people away from the market. Just a normal thing

Thats normal Focus on the main things but don't get confused by shiny objects

Learning SEO always needs trial, practise & implementation.
So after learning try to practcise, so that you will get to familiarise the topics.
In SEO, updation is needed!

I'm a broke 14 year old, I don't have $200+ to spend on links

My plan rn is to get in touch with RE agents and do their SEO for free, get a case study, and then start charging them

oh ok. You are too young to spend money I understand.

But this also means that you have ample time to learn new techniques and upgrade your knowledge.
You should start with free blog on Wordpress.com and start doing your experiments with it. Remember, even if it is a free, it is as powerful as a paid one.

So just get started with the blogging journey my friend and ask for help if you need any in this forum.

SEO is hard for beginners, GG algorism is changing more frequently
