I always feel confused with SEO

I wanna focus on my SEO Agency tho
ohh ...wait...wait....hold on bro.

Running an agency is a distant dream. First you need to take some time to learn the basics of SEO and online marketing.

Relax and focus on your first steps first!

It sounds like you made some progress but are now caught in the headlights of responsibility. You have to pick your battles with the world a bit better and take on clients once you have your portfolio of projects which HAS to cost you money. You can't do much for free in this digital world, like you can't do much in the real world. Window shopping and research? Hell yeah do that to your hearts content, and become an expert in knowledge, but become an expert in practice, and then well, that's where most people don't make it to, so the field is yours as it costs money to work here. BUt this is the best place for opportunity.

A whole industry is dedicated to exploiting people who think they can learn SEO with no projects or experience and after a week of learning, make serious bank. Maybe with some lucky twist of fate, but for the average and majority. No.

I would suggest if you can't afford or find links to give them, you take a look at what you promised them in exchange for your service, and see what they are exactly expecting, and then cut your losses, by adding the site to ahrefs, and making as many simple improvements with the help of their free audit tool as possible, and closing the account in a nice way with the client. Offering to work with them in the future, should their rankings improve.

Then go back to your own projects, and work those till you can earn much, even if you can get a site to $20-50 a month from ads, then you'll be degreed up to the max in SEO understanding and concepts and can show your portfolio to someone who would want a site themselves that would earn $50! lol

I already know the basics of SEO and online marketing

Just know that money makes your life easier lol

I'm a broke 14 year old, I don't have $200+ to spend on links

My plan rn is to get in touch with RE agents and do their SEO for free, get a case study, and then start charging them
at 14 yrs

You are doing just fine... Just keep learning and practicing

Even tho I've been learning for a few months(not really learning continuously), and I feel like I know how it works, but at the same time I feel like I don't know SEO at all

Ik this seems stupid, but idk how to describe the feeling

How can I fix this?
This is Your learning Stage, so you are feeling like this. To overcome this situation, along with learning, work on real time projects, or you can work on your own project

For your project, You have to Follow These Steps:-
1. Create your own Website.
2. Write Content for the website
3. Do keyword research
4. Create meta tags and apply to website
5. Integrate website with GA, GSC, via GTM
6. Do on-page optimization - in that make your website Mobile friendly (Specially, do research, take help from developer)
7. Focus on the link building (there are so many techniques), in that also make sure that you are writing unique and informative content for link building.

Look results in SERP, you will be happy with your work.

It's not stupid to feel that way, SEO can be overwhelming at times. My advice would be to start with the basics and then gradually move towards more advanced topics. Don't try to learn everything at once. You can start with on-page optimization, keyword research, and link building.
Also, try to implement what you learn on your own website or blog to get hands-on experience.

The field is constantly evolving, and there's always more to learn. You can network and learn from others in the field, and there are some pretty cool ones out there like the Moz Community, the SEMrush Community, and the Reddit SEO community. These communities can give you awesome insights and support to help you improve your SEO skills and knowledge.

It feels the same for a lot of things. For example knowing how to setup a wordpress website for someone who never did it will feel like a skill but someone who has setup up several websites feels like it's nothing.

I know from a personal experience that even I learn by reading a lot I learn small part of SEO.
Then, when practicing what I have learned and testing it I learn small part of it.

What is the best is to practice and learn from practice. Read parallel to practicing and you will see patterns emerge over time. You will see what SEO means.

One example:
- I was working on website structure. How should be home page, other pages, then all posts pages structured. Should they have links to each other or should I follow SILO structure or flat structure. Then I have started testing. By testing I have seen that I should arrange the blog posts differently. To have links to other posts that are relevant from a user point.
- after testing several years and changing I have come to the conclusion that I should not link only inside the same category. I should link from a post to other categories when it is ok. And that means if you write one sentence that touches specific thing in another category I put a link to that blog post from that other category. And the results have come by having other blog posts started to rank.

You see, when I was reading about SEO I could not find that specific information about the website structure. I have read that I should link to the relevant blog posts when it is ok. But, no one told me what will happen when I link to those post. WHat kind of results I would get.
Also, if you do not link to those blog post occasionaly, and if you are new blogger, those old posts will not rank at all. You need to keep them alive somehow and that is by linking to them occasionaly from new posts or from posts that are ranking and have traffic.

SEO is a large part of website building. What would be good is to maintin a journal for yourself so you know what you have done. For example I have journal fro over 4 years and I can go back to see what ideas I had and what results I got. Which is priceless in some moments.

SEO can be a complex and ever-changing field, which can be overwhelming and confusing for many people.
