In Italy, the advanced conversation algorithm developed by the American startup OpenAI, ChatGPT, has been temporarily blocked by the Garante della privacy, the authority that protects personal data protection in the country.

The Garante has put a stop to the use of ChatGPT until compliance with privacy regulations is ensured.

This is the first time in the world that an authority has blocked the use of ChatGPT based on the European data protection regulation, the GDPR.

According to the Italian Garante, OpenAI and its flagship product do not comply with European privacy regulations.

I heard about that! I wonder what the specific privacy violations were though.
The Privacy Guarantor issued a notice announcing the immediate temporary restriction of the processing of Italian users' data by the U.S.-based company OpenAI, which operates the ChatGPT platform.

In parallel, an investigation was opened following a data leak suffered by the platform on March 20.

The data breach involved user conversations and payment information of subscribers to the service.

This incident, however, raises deeper questions regarding the management and protection of personal data in a context where the use of advanced technologies, such as those used by ChatGPT, raises concerns related to the privacy and security of personal information.

Yeah, I know the had a security incident and countries that apply GDPR takes this really seriously let's see of other countries join them too.

GOOD! Hopefully this sets off a chain of events where every country bans AI writing tools.

Maybe they have some kind of thinking or security issues about Ai

Just a temporary pause until the right people are paid off. Also, Italians can easily get around the ban, so nothing to worry about.

Welcome to North Kore.... sorry in I mean Italyblocked.png

What did chatGPT not please them. Money was not paid to the treasury
Regardless of the fact that it could be an advantage for someone or a disadvantage for someone else , I can assure you that in italy we have MUCH more serious problems than this crap . So besides saying that I live in a shitty country , surely someone will not have given the money in the right hands , this is italy

Someone simply didn't have time to jump on the hype train of artificial intelligence (neural networks) and now they're complaining that it should be banned because the money isn't flowing their way, you understand.

Of course, they don't care about "security". They're just jealous that ChatGPT gained over a billion users in a week and none of them received a share of that. There shouldn't be any ban, just healthy competition among neural networks.
