I need to make an extra $1,000 every month. I already have a full-time job and a side business doing freelance work. My roommate is currently in jail and I need to do something to make up his half of the rent. I don't really have any free time but I do have some money saved that I could invest in something to supplement this extra expense for the next 16 months. I am open to any ideas, black or white hat.

First of all, leave the company of your room mate as it is highly likely that if he did something illegal, you might also do the same-company affects.

Now coming to passive income, there are lots of ways. To start earning with little money, you can try:

Fiverr and upwork - Most newbies start on these sites and offer services which they are proficient in. If you are having skills, it's even better.

If not, you can still earn provided you have the will and determination.

Think of ideas/topics you have knowledge/experience in abundance and create a Gig.

Keep prices low and wait for sales and reviews. You need to build up your profile in order to gain reputation which in turn will bring in more sales.

why dont you expand on your existing business, like advertising it to get a greater audience

you can buy a programming language tutorial for 5000 form upwrok and put it on udemy, you make 8 million dollars in 1 year

the calculations
buy a tutorial on upwork for 5000$
go on facebook ads
1600 CAD for a publicity of the udemy tutorial page is minimum 8400 clicks
we divide by 2 to calculate the lowest but you never get this low
4200 clicks by 12$ per user that buys it (again, 12$ is lowest)
you get 50,400$ in 7 days of ads, the lowest amount ever, if you divide by 2 more to make sure you don`t lose you get 25200$ with 5000$ + 1600$ = 6600$ investment
next you invest in more publicity the 25200$ you earned you put it all on a publicity
you now get in the next 7 publicity days 1.9 million with 160k students for the udemy tutorial

Glad there's a millionaire here in this thread

"Passive income" rarely or even doesn't exists. Work your way to 100 posts, buy Jr.VIP and start doing HAF.
Yeahhh.

Passive income is really, really small revenue.

In order for it to be anything major like $1k/month, you really gotta have some money lol.

It takes 2-4 real estate ”doors” to make $1k/m and even real estate isn’t 100% passive.

I think he meant getting an Original course for 5k bucks. As in getting the upwork guy make it for you.
Okay, that makes a little more sense. But despite that most of his posts are just plain delusional and that one he just posted above is no different. Just because you hire someone to craft you a programming course, does not mean it will automatically sell. This guy seriously thinks you just need to throw in 10 Grand to FB Ads in order to make massive profits in the future. Its just not gonna work this way, and it honestly pisses me off, lol.

If the course is substandard, negative reviews will kill your course even before you hit 10k.
Other than that, your conversion rate is way off, people don't buy courses that easily.
