I tested this using a few different accounts at different usergroup levels. This didn't come up.

If I had to guess what caused that, you may have had a poor internet connection on your phone when you try to like a post or thread. I recall something similar happening to me a few months back, and that seemed to be the issue.

If there are any other details you can share about the issue, let me know and I'll try to replicate it.

This is accurate as this prompt was shown to me on more than one occasion and only when my mobile connection was poor or weak.
 
or BHW became self-aware and determined on the fly that the said post is not "like" worthy but more like "haha".

The event listener js (that prevents default behaviour when you click on the like link) wasn’t loaded when you clicked on the link/button, probably. It should be possible to reproduce if you load a thread and quickly click on a like button while the page is not fully loaded. It happened to me once. Not a big deal though as xenforo has everything set even if the js didn’t work. :)
