Backlinking, what is really working now days?

Can you please tell me what is currently working for backlinks? I'm reading on forums that RankerX, Scrapebox, and GSA SER are not good, so I'm wondering what people are using to improve their website's score in Google. It seems like nothing can be done to rank a page, which is very strange. Do High DA PA comment links work? Can you provide any guidance on what is best to do? Thank you in advance!

Backlinks need to be high quality and relevant to be effective. It should come from authoritative websites and be related to the content of your website. For example, guest blogging, niche edit, PBNs, and press releases are all good strategies for building backlinks.

Quality PBNs also cost. These $1-5 per link PBNs won't do you any good either so you need money to do proper SEO.

No, its not like that. All it means is creating backlinks with the help of automated tools will not work. However backlinks built manually from genuine sources are always worth it.

For example, you can build Guest posts and niche edits backlinks.
Tier 2 backlinks like blog commenting and profile creation backlinks are also effective up to certain extent (though not much).

So you have to have some good budget to buy / build quality backlinks.

You can't buy 1000's of good quality backlinks in a matter of days/weeks.
Well... unless, you have like $1mil budget which I don't think you do.

Backlinks need to be quality links for the most part, which is why just blasting your site with automated links is generally unproductive these days for ranking well.

Unless you are in an extremely competitive market, you can get more mileage out of making your on-page seo the best possible than trying to link build. The more authoritative you can make your on-page, the less you need to rely on backlinks to build authority (to a point).

If you have the budget to buy good links, you can slowly. If you don't have the budget (or in addition to buying links), look at what competitor links you can steal.

Most websites only allow no-follow backlinks in the comments and therefore, there isn't much you can get from it. I would suggest going for guest posts or sharing your links in niche-related forums. However, you have to be careful because it is easy to get banned.
