I noticed that the replies that have earned reactions are automatically reset when the thread of a member is deleted.

If a reply was helpful or valuable then it should be fair that the person who took the time to write the reply didn't have their reaction score reduced.

Just my two cents.

The reaction score from others for a thread that is deleted most certainly should be deleted as well.

There is no thread to tie it to and, more often than not, the thread is deleted for a terms of service violation.

Can you share the logic behind allowing someone gain "reaction score points" behind someone responding to a thread that was a ToS violation?

I disagree.

Sure, I will explain why. Currently there is the problem that several newly created accounts are promoting a NFT project in the Cryptocurrency subforum here on BHW, which is most likely a scam.

They either spam their project in response to cryptocurrency-related posts or create their own thread like yesterday.

When I saw this thread yesterday, I immediately wrote a reply to warn other members here on BHW so that they don't fall for it and they don't suffer any financial damage. These newly created accounts are using buzzwords like Binance (the largest crypto exchange in the world) saying that their project was now listed there which is a lie but to attract attention and convice people here to buy NFTs of this project.

I received 4 likes from members who read my warning. My reaction score was reduced after the thread was deleted.

The logic is that if someone makes a helpful contribution here in the forum, you will not be penalized by resetting the reaction score.

I see your thinking.

But you are not penalized, the one whose thread gets deleted is.

I'll bring this up on Monday in the staff meeting though as there might be something there.

The correct action would be to report the thread instead of commenting on it. Correctly reporting the thread / post will give you more kudos than a few likes.
Asked - can we keep reactions (likes) for threads that break the Terms of Service and are eventually deleted?
Answered - No as I’m sure you can see how this would be abused. however using the report function would be the correct process in the situation you’ve explained above https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/what-to-do-if-you-see-spam-on-the-forum.1085981/
