To those who believe that ChatGPT will replace Google

How are these creators will lose?
If google starts answering questions in a chat format - who will go and read blogs written by content creators? Its not like Chat GPT is telling where it got its answer from!

You are wrong to compare them. In fact, this is just a beta test of the GPT. Give it a year and internet access and everything becomes clear. Let's compare.
You write "buy a cell phone with a good camera for under $600".
What does google show you? It will give you a link to an iPhone 14 on amazon. And a few forums that mention "good camera".
What will a GPT with internet access give you?
1. I've compared all the phone tests. Based on them this phone here has the best camera in your price range agree 100500 studies.
2. Here are the verified store links. I filtered out for you fake stores (the disease of google ads)
3. Here are the links on ebay, it will be a little cheaper, but there is a risk of dishonest seller. But I compared sellers and selected reliable.
4. Here I have selected sellers from China, will be even cheaper.
And all this will be summarized in a text of 500 characters.
Now answer me, how much time will you spend on such a search using Google?
Please read the post properly before wasting your time writing a long reply.

Of course, it will suggest the best phone on the market, but the outdated model. It will suggest the same old model even after the next, latest model is released. Would you purchase the 12 Pro even though the iPhone 14 launched months ago?

Even ChatGPT tells you to do your own research. To do it, you need Google. That's it.

I can write a 2500+ words blog post on why chatgpt wont replace google. Yes it will dent the serps but there are so many limitations that will probably never go away.
Human is a complex creature. You really think most human will enjoy chatgpt's one liners? If this was the case thn ron burgundy's idea of news would never have worked.
People love opinion, people love gossips.
Chatgpt needs prompt to give detailed answer. Normal user dont have this much time.
Thr r multiple examples whr chatgpt gave wrong advice and it doesnt cite sources. One wrong answer and normal user will lose trust on it.
Can bing/google risk for not citing sources.. as this will simple mean lawsuits against them.
Chatgpt has produced racist, threatening and disturbing content.

It looks like you didn't read the first part of my post. GPT at this point is essentially a beta test. And I'm talking about the time when it will have real-time internet access. You do understand the speed at which this technology is currently evolving, don't you? I think google understands that very well.

And I'm talking about the time when it will have real-time internet access
Can you explain this part? Do you know how AI models are created and trained?

ChatGPT is not a human to get internet access. LOL!

What if it gets hooked up to social media + all currently published online content. Then what? I agree with you not before 5 years but eventually I think it’ll make digital information a clearly definable (and finite) resource.
THIS!! I am cooking some mild automation as we speak. It's amazing how humanly look alike the bots replying/commenting it can become

But what if I'm fine with a bit of outdated data in return for improved readability and explanations?

Take for example software programming, it does not change so fast and it's perfectly fine to learn Javascript or Python on data that is being aggregated a few years back.

I agree that it cannot replace google but it's something worth using for sure.
Exactly!

ChatGPT will not kill Google, but it does makes a good competition so they can work even harder on their AI.

But not all user will use it in search only , most of us use it to help them in other tasks

It's not the first attempt. OpenAI trained and launched various models before launching ChatGPT. Actually, it's the final updated model of the series.
actually this public version is a dumbed down version , why would they give the public the full version of it. And google has LAMDA apparent of chatgpt which they say is better but we'll see.

Chaptgpt disclaimer says it has limited knowledge of events after 2021

Really funny ajajajaj, but it seems that it doesn't update automatically, so the developers teach it over time, kind of weird, if the idea is to have the best AI to provide good answers, service or wathever they want, but this restriction in the learning seems odd to me, anyway if they have to many restriction in the AI might take a lot of time before it can be at it fully potencial.

It just got $billions of investments, wait until it can connect to the net, and the day it will work with much more powerful servers and will not give any capacity issue anymore. Even Google is scared of it, even from the version 1. Even from the 175billion parameters beta version which still gives users capacity issues. Imagine the 100trillion parameters and fully version of it which can also connect to the net.

I don't know why some people think like everything will be remain the same forever, come on, you are in the IT, you should know that everything is being developed and improved over time, when it's being developed exponentially, no one can stop these kind of tools anymore.

No one no Anythink until Google release it own ai in April

Open ai admits 1 million user so far

If you think that mad wait till Google add there ai.

Got to remember ai is a collection of everybody content in a database
And sorted with a powerful computer power to give human meaning. ((basically making money of the people back.))

So basically it artifical intelegence from collected Internet info and added to huge database and a built
Huge algo in words and sentences and gives results.

How I see it anyway

Google got the cash to easily beat openai and it be upto date info not like openai 1 year old info. (( openai admits that))

Google had a ai ready many years ago but didn't release it but now the people are accepting ai and it abiltys and accepting it use Google are desperate to get there new ai on board Google already got it database info

Wouldn't surprise me if Google blocks openai from the Google info, to stop beating there own ai.

Maybe
Google +openai
Join forces.(( Google to gredy, don't see that happening))

What your option on this

Openai and Google ai
