People ask me if I won money

I don't really use Facebook or Instagram often, but sometimes I do, mostly for special occasions such as New Year. Many of my old classmates and other people I know are following me there.

Some of these people keep sending me messages like "did you win money, please be honest" or "I am curious, did you win the lottery?", questions like this. Yes, they even write "please be honest", like it would mean anything.

Imagine that you have been so hopelessly programmed by the matrix that you automatically think that someone has won money because they have more than you. The mere thought that you can't achieve something like that through your own work, but you must have gotten it through "luck".

Has this happened to you too?

People are weird when it comes to money.

When I was in the UK, big into the sports betting, people could not understand why I never left home, sat in a car for an hour in rush hour, went to an office to work, wearing a suit etc.
I used to try explain I worked from home, making money via the internet. Most could not get their head round it.

Good thing is it was all tax free too

It's normal human behaviour. You were in same class, same environment, and same education.

It only makes sense to wonder, why are you making more money!

When I get such question, I try to educate them based on their situation. Of course, it doesn't help at all, but I wish I could do something more

Not that in partiucal, but some question my self employment lol. They'll question my legitimacy and often want me to "proof it" to them. I'll simply ignore it and they will most likely end up calling me a faker. Whatever, i don't care. I don't have to proof it to them.

I think it has something to do with the Matrix because the general consensus is: Go to school, study hard, go to university, get a good job and earn money. This is the programming. And yes, it is programming, because the education system is heavily working with punishment. You are not allowed to fail. Not allowed to make mistakes. Not allowed to do anything extraordinary.

Also, they are not asking me why I make more money, they ask me if I WON money. That's a big difference because winning something requires that you were lucky and didn't reach it through your own work, mentality, and effort.

Some even ask me if I print money !!! Then, I tell them the truth : "No, I do not print money, but I "mint" money". Then they get further confused and hence they ask nothing further.

It's like telling your friends how much you make. It'll just breed contempt or anger if they're making less.

I'm of the mindset that it's best to keep things like that private or more modest.

When people think or know you have money, they will begin to treat and act differently with you. And not for the better.

You can try and use terms like "the matrix" to try to explain the normal path, or the safe path we were taught to take from an early age, but that term makes it seem as if everything is one big conspiracy against the common man.

The truth of the matter is that skilled (and not so skilled) physical labor is what drives the global economy, those types of jobs are a sure bet and the great majority of them don't require much mental labor (even when the position requires that you have a college degree), and that's why the majority of people flock to that path (especially when their life circumstances didn't give them much of an opportunity).

Internet marketing is an entire different world to most people even today in 2023, because all things considered, the internet is still in its infancy. It's hard for people to understand that you can make money by messing around on a computer (even a cellphone) because it wasn't a thing 30 years ago, and even 20 years ago it was an obscure thing reserved for computer savvy nerds, (pr0nographers jumped on the trend rather quickly though haha).

No but for real, i dont flaunt the few dollars that i have, except maybe a little bit to very close family member or two, and a friend and a half. So its no issue.

You are absolutely right and I completely agree. Showing off wealth definitely attracts the wrong kind of people and in general, it is a much better idea to stay undercover or low-key.

However, if you live abroad for 10 years, drive a nice car, etc. there is no way to hide it, even when you don't post about it on Facebook, IG, etc. people will just see it in person and start talking.

I am from Germany and there is not much internet scam or internet criminality going on compared to other countries, so, no. Maybe not try to be discriminating or racist next time and start with "MaYbE yOuR cOuNtRy hAs SuCh PeOpLe". I am pretty sure internet criminality is significantly higher in India than in Germany...especially from what I can see on YouTube.
