Subpoena from cloudflare

I received this email today from cloudflare

To Whom It May Concern:

We received the attached subpoena regarding a domain (xxx.com) managed through your Cloudflare account. The subpoena requires us to provide information in our systems related to these websites. We have determined that this is a valid subpoena, and we are required to provide the requested information. In accordance with our Privacy Policy, we are informing you before we provide any of the requested subscriber information.

We plan to turn over documents in response to the subpoena unless you intervene in the case within one (1) week of the date of this notice. Please know that removing or deleting content will not halt this process. If you plan to intervene in this process, we would suggest that you contact local counsel at your earliest convenience.

This is a porn website that I am running from years ago and this is the first time I got such emails
I am not living in united states, I live in a far country where DMCA is not applicable (Actually my country is a part of DMCA ignore countries) and my server is located in Russia at a full ignore DMCA hosting

I wonder if they can make any trouble for me? How far they can go?

Ignore it. Maybe, create a new account with a different email address. Or you can use some other DNS service like noip.

IMO you must have given then your fake info as well. If they are your real info, then you won't have to worry if rules don't apply in your country
and if cloudflare ask you to take down your website then you give them middle finger and change the host or DNS.

They can if they really want to. Unless you did something very blackhat, I highly doubt they will pursue it further. From now on, use a VPN to access your domain registrar, hosting, and DNS management. Better safe than sorry.

Oh no! I don't want to scare you, but that is bad signal. You need to change everything, moving domains and buying cctld through njal.la for example.

That means that Cloudflare will handle your email account, IPs logged in cloudflare, Real Server IP and many more information, past IPs used anything to identity you they have logged.


You should go with DDoS-Guard is the best alternative to cloudflare, but is paid.
You can't do nothing, i recommend you stay away from cloudflare right now and changing domains etc.

Well, I said that I don't want to scare you, but that is the truth. Who did that is someone that are looking for your information.
Cloudflare HQ and most of company are based in US, for sure they have points around the world. But they must provide all logs, information they gathered from you.

Now the question is who did that? Anti-Piracy organizations? Someone that want to sue you?

The issue is not giving the data, the issue is who is trying to do that to you.
DDoS-Guard is the best alternative to cloudflare, but is paid. DDoS-Guard most servers and HQ (HeadQuarters) are in Russia.

In the past DDoS-Guard was a free plan, right now they disable that. But they ignore a lot of complaints.

Now what you need to do? Moving on from cloudflare or make a reverse proxy.

They can obtain details from you, but if is a person who wants to sue you probably will be harder if you are far away from them. They can have the info and doesn't do nothing with that.
Always depend where you live and who asked for the information.

And use or transfer your domains to offshore domains or anonymous domains like

I will answer from him, from my side of view and point of seeing this.

The reason why they may want his information can be leaks, images that aren't consented, pirated videos from adult industry, someone wants something deleted?

What subpoena means or can mean?
1) Person trying to get information who is behind the website
2) Anti-Piracy organizations to start a investigation or not.
3) Just a person trying to know something about you and if you are very far away to sue will be hard and will cease or desist.
4) Europol / Interpol

What was in the attached letter they sent you? Probably explains what this is all about. It's probably for DMCA, a company trying to get your details to sue you. I'm not sure what you do exactly. If you added fake info, it should be good, I don't think they will bother to go after it. Unless you did something criminally, then there's a possibility they could go after your ISP to identify you and stuff. But for piracy, very unlikely, unless it's like a big police operation.

you asked an excellent question, There is no any anti piracy organization involved in this process, Just a content creator (A clips4sale studio owner) sued me for only and only one URL not more (LOL)
I just posted one video of his studio and this moron paid for court to take this video down
I created my cloudflare account in 2013 and since then I logged in my account by many many different IPs (All information I provided to cloudflare, google email, domain registrar, hosting provider and etc are fake.. ) and my country is very far from US. Actually my country has very political conflicts with united states and there is no any copy right policy in my country
The only thing I am afraid of is that they find my real identity by some methods that I don't know.
Some times I travel to European countries and it might make trouble for me
What do you think? Do you know any substitute for cloudflare ? (free ones)

Ah. Very unlikely that someone gonna manage to get a court order in your country to get your ISP to release the identifying information to then sue you in US court.
