I will be doing some work for a YMYL company (psychedelics). When I write content for them, can citing or linking to the journal articles I am discussing help with E-A-T?

Also.. If I am linking to journal articles a bunch in my blog, might this reduce the amount of time that people are spending on my client's site?

It depends, what persona are you using to write this content? Has this persona got an established author profile somewhere? Has this persona written other content elsewhere? On similar psychedelic sites? Or health columns?

Depends on the content you write, if it's engaging and it writes well and engages with the user, then no.

Yes, try to see if you have an author profile, either on the same website or even better your own. So then you can show that you're an authority available for other websites as well, now you're an established writer.

On your website, show your books, your citations, show where your work is published etc. Link to LinkedIn, Twitter etc. Show that you're a real person.

You can consider purchasing author profiles on some high-level publications and link out to them at the end of each article. It serves as kind of like a PR piece and can definitely strengthen your EAT score if the same author profile is coming from a high DA site.
