Question about old BSTs

@INCC Interesting - can I ask where you got that info from? Looking at Chapter 18: Rules For Editing, Closing, Re-Opening, & Maintaining Your BST available here https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/the-black-hat-world-marketplace-rules.1295700/#post-13962694

We allow threads to be reopened once re-reviewed to ensure you can still deliver as advertised for up to a 6 month period. Is your issue simply the 6-month window?

OR are you talking about marketplace threads from 10 years ago? which we don't allow as they would no longer be relevant or the reviews would no longer be relevant.
Just bumping this.

Damien, can you at least consider extending the time to 1 year?

Thanks

It’s being considered. But at the moment I’m not swayed by the arguments as taking a year off IM is like taking 5 years off a normal job as things move so fast.

Schools / taxes etc are on an annual cycle usually due to the harvest cycle and when people had money to pay their taxes . Kids were used as cheap field labor at harvest time - so thr annual cycle is not an argument to be used here.

I want to take a break from IM is sensible. But not the most commercially minded move for a seller. We could have an "on hiatus" flag against your account. However, think about the most common scenario of someone buying a car and then the service Centre / car shop shuts down for a year. Would you buy another car from them?

At the end of the day it's your decision. You can always open up another thread and link that to your previous thread showing history. But if you don't log into BHW and engage with your buyers then your sales opportunities will be limited by the amount of work you're willing to commit to.

This works too. Didn't know it was allowed.

So technically if I have an old sales thread for the exact same product then I can link back from the new thread for feedback and history (for example)?

Thanks

I have faced this issue. But when I was told that my bst cannot be reopened, I did not question it and opened a new one. I thought if BHW has this rule, there must be some solid reasons behind this.

There is currently a 6 month rule. We're discussing the scenario in which this should be extended to 12 months. I'm looking for the why to achieve the balance. Agreed 10 years is too long I'd say the same reason for 2 years. So why 1 year?

Hello,

I agree with OP, I think the limit should be increased to 1 year.

It takes a lot of hard work, patience, and money to make a BST successful. Every business or individual could have short term issues / problems or they just want to take some time off from this cut throat competitive business environment they should have some leverage and if there service had no issues in the past they should be allowed up to 1 year at least to re open their BST.

Thanks!

Totally agree. Loads of work from both ends to get a marketplace thread live. So why would you then close it? Trying to understand the use cases here for up to a year v's the 6 months that's works for the last 10 years. No argument that people need to take breaks

Using words along the lines of. "For reference see my previous threads here". In your copy would work, this is positively encouraged.

So I believe we have the solution. Simply place a link to your old thread.
Asked - can we extend the reopening time to 12 months from 6?
Answered - not at this time. But a simple link to the old thread will work equally as well.
Closed.
