Twitter might be shutting down tonight

Who cares? Twitter has largely been a free service for many years now. It has never actually made money as a company on its own. And to boot, it's ridiculously hard to monetize even if you have a ton of bots and spam accounts running 24/7 for you. The verticals it represents and influences are largely super niche such as crypto and artistic. I grant you it has a great water cooler effect for journalists and a great capacity to transmit information from emerging areas of the world where we can get information quickly without it being censored but all in all if it was to disappear all together tonight I'm not sure any of us would really feel it. In fact, it might blow up the market to be able to get in on the ground floor of the next big thing because so many of the social medias have locked up this area for so long.

Twitter was a botters paradise back in the day. It all changed around the 2016 US election and the God Emperor Donald Trump :D

In the meantime Twitter has reduced the reach on most of my accounts. This is shitty.
I quite clearly notice how mine has gone up
I get far more views, likes and interactions on my tweets and comment all of a sudden

Elon is a man of ideas, he is just executing it according to his plan.

I always wanted to see twitter doom.

For personal reasons.

Elon is doing Twitter a big favor. It will be a beast just watch out lol. He's getting rid of slackers and SJWs.

Twitter before and after Elon:

I think schullenberger had it right at this point, this is 'the collapse of a jobs program for surplus elites'.

Twitter, and most tech companies over the last decade have tens of thousands of surplus, overpaid, undereducated, unproductive and underperforming staff on their books.

When you take a dive into some of the staff at these companies, engineers getting paid 350k for showing up 30hrs a week, producing 10hrs worth of work. It's quite frankly ridiculous.

Twitter, in effect is the testing dummy for all silicone valley tech companies and start-ups alike. If, after cutting a large portion of the surplus staff twitter then shows a measurable gain in not only productivity but bottom line profit, expect, with haste, a significant amount of other companies to start sharpening the axe and undertaking layoffs under the same vein.

Now we know where my engagement went :p

Twitter won't shut down. The testing metric was Parler. When Parler was not allowed to thrive that set the stage for what we have now. People might be going to "better pastures" like Mastadon but they are quickly learning its worse than the first generation of IRC.
