I was sitting at a low single digir moz da for a while and about a dozen of my difficult KD were topped out at a certain rank, pages 2-3 no matter how many back links or juice links I sent to it. However, my moz DA jumped up 20 points and all of a sudden the following day all those difficult keywords that were topped out for over 1-2 months finally broke upward double digits to the top of page 1. Coincidence? I think not. It seems DA isn't as worthless as people say.

It's not worthless, but it, by itself didn't rank your keywords.

The thing that made it increase also made your rankinh to spike. Or are suggesting that Google are checking Moz's DA score when they decide whether to rank your pages?

Moz DA is not looked at by Google to rank site, it's one metric looked at by SEO folks to get an idea (outside of Google, who won't provide the info) as to the authority of a site. Kind of like putting some light in the room, so digital marketers can see what they're doing.

Yes, It is because it shows the exact domain authority of your website and is also useful to check spam scores.

DA mostly depends on your content quality and high authority backlinks and referring domains.

So, when you increase these two factors, automatically the ranking will remove as well as your domain authority

I believe based on what I've seen is that google is using similar data points to moz Da to determine when your site can rank past similar da websites. They might not use DA directly but whatever they use seems to update at the same time as moz DA

My DA went up because I started running a ton of back links to my non homepage. I had a ton of quality backlinks only to my homepage prior and my DA was crap for a long while, but other metrics from semrush and ahrefs were good.

Mate,

Domain authority is only for whole domain. That authority will pass to your entire domain.

It will not vary for each page. Only the page will vary for each page.

Your domain won't get authority if you have all your backlinks running to 1 page. Also I'm ecommerce not a blog just to be clear.

DA is useful to the extent that you can write off sites with low scores (assuming you're looking for authority links), but a high score certainly doesn't instantly equal love from Google.

For sure Moz still classes some links as quality while Google sees them as spam/blackhat. Same with all other companies guessing at what Google likes. Far too often I've checked out sites with good metrics just to find they don't even rank for zero-competition longtails despite an exact-match page title.

It doesnt look like it rates on page seo at all. Its based on how large your overall domain is and how many quality backlinks you can get throughout all of your domain pages.

Correct. What I'm saying is you can generally trust it if it says a site doesn't have a good backlink profile, but you can't assume that the backlink profile is great because of high DA.

MOZ can be more useful to check spam score for me.

DA isn't a worthless metric. But it's not a ranking factor. It depends upon the quality of the articles, backlinks etc.

Exactly what InfinityPeace says. DA doesn’t mean anything to Google, you can just use it as an indicator.

The DA score is actually useful for comparing websites and tracking the ranking strength of websites over time.

Jesus I cannot believe some of the stuff posted on here nowadays.

So you think Google updates in accordance and following Moz?

You also commented you are linkbuilding to inner pages, yet fail to mention if the PA has increased.

Moz DA is as outdated and crap as Copyscape is for content checking. Why do you think there are hundreds of people offering to increase your site DA to DA50+ for $10?
