Should I forget website design service forever?

i started Digital Marketing services as a side hustle 13 years ago (mainly with website design) and since 2 years ago as a full time job.
In the last 2 years my source of income was from drop-servicing and reselling, and I couldn't sell even 1 website, and my main hope and interest was make at least 1K/month with website designing.
In these 2 years I promoted my website design Locally on IG influencers, Offline marketing flyers.. , SMS, WhatsApp email and .. But not even 1 website design order. and the biggest issue is my own country targeted market is not ready to have website, and international market is a big competition and i wasn't successful in it.
Tomorrow is my Digital Marketing agency's domain renewal, should I accept the failure and forget about the website design and digital marketing services, or do you have any suggestions for me to keep it alive?

I say give it another year. But with a twist.

Design 5 unique websites.
Combine your digital marketing skills and include 10-15 articles in each website.

Sell them on flippa. Set a realistic price.

If your hourly rate is $15, and you work 8 hours for a website, sell it for $120 - $150, not $800.

Get some cash flow, regardless of how big it is.

My second advice to you is to get a job in your industry.
Work for a company that offers the same services.

Even if the pay is very low.
You'll see how they get clients, what clients are looking for, what category of clients are looking for web design services.

Marketing to webmasters directly is not a smart strategy.
If you look around the forum, most of us use GeneratePress / Astra / Neve theme and do a couple of CSS edits.
Any webmaster can do this, and we call it web design.

There aren't that many people willing to pay $400 for some theme rehash.

Can you message companies one by one? Tell them how the website will benefit them. More like dog breeders, ask to design or redesign their website if they already have one.

If you go to websites marketplace then you will find only amazon associates blogs and shopify e-commerce websites.So no one is building websites for personal use these day because everyone is on whatsapp and facebook.

Maybe you will have luck in India after 12 months from now when India starts putting charges on whatsapp and facebook usage. I am hoping for the same to happen at earliest.

I certainly agree with this, I don't do web design and marketing personally but I have a close friend who does it and he started very similarly. You have to start somewhere in any industry, even if you have to do websites for $200 at the beginning then do it. Overtime that $200 website that you built, you will be able to charge 5-10k or more.


My recommendation is get on Fiverr, get on upwork, but most importantly get on LinkedIn. It is by far the most underrated platform but the most powerful for people in Marketing and website design.

The thing about LinkedIn is, there are tens of thousands of companies who need websites built or redesigns on there website that are willing to pay really good money. Think about it, these companies get quotes for 5k,10k etc. So when you come in and say you will do it for 2k they will almost certainly go with you. 1 client can lead into 50 clients over time, when you do work don't just do the minimum. Always exceed expectations and you will go very far.

Never give up, keep on grinding and in the end you will be thankful. Best of luck!

Instead of selling websites directly, build your own blog or social websites, then advertise it, add Google Adsense, join all popular community forums not only in your country, link your website to all social networking sites. Then money will come to you and you will use your blog website to sell your web design work to your audience/visitor. Thank me later from rendc(.)com

OP, did you try to target those businesses those didn't have a website already? What was your targeting strategy?

Yes, For the website designing mostly I worked for my Local . 3 of my marketing strategy for website design was these:
- i knew that, in some states of my country most of the people like Real estate, and they're not afraid of spending money, besides they were working on traditional methods, so i created 3 cheap but full feature real estate websites, and i promoted in Top iG pages of that states, besides, sent bulk message on WhatsApp, thousands of real estate agencies. Not even 1 sell, and wasted over 9 months on it.
- Bulk SMS to businesses
- some stealth bin Facebook campaigns
- content creation

I think the people of my country isn't ready to have website and I should do ATL marketing for it that is the waste of time. And didn't enter to international competition yet, just an English website.

Looks like you don't know what is going on here and alot of web designers are earning a living from bhw clients alone. Create a sale thread get it approved by mod and see for yoilurself. Lots of money to be made in bhw
