Hello everyone, it's been a while since I posted..
In 3 days it'll be a year ever since I started this journey, I'll keep it as transparent as possible
I haven't been satisfied with what I've been able to accomplish, I know I could've done a lot more
However, I took a step back and looked at what I was doing before starting this journey, I didn't even realize that I doubled by income in a year
I didn't realize how much I know now that I didn't know last year, I was able to gather a lot of knowledge in the past year.. the thing is I didn't apply it as much
I faced a lot of fears, and did things I never thought I would be able to do.. the issue I'm facing is that I'm measuring my progress by how much money I make
Even thought I've never made as much money as I make now, I feel like the knowledge and experience I have are not justifying my income. I could make much more than I make now..
But what I came to realize is that something kept me from going on my own.. starting my own thing. The need of validation from other people, and this goes back to my childhood
I've been going to therapy for the past 3 - 4 months, convincing myself to go to therapy was very challenging but at the same time one of the best things I've done this year
I've been smoking pot quite a lot lately, more than ever before..
The thing is that once you have all the tools and you know exactly what you need to do and you don't do it, there's no excuse you can come up with
I've gone from jumping out of bed to work to not wanting to get out of bed for hours..
I realized that doing the things I was doing are not going to change my life, you can read and meditate for years but if you don't take action your life isn't gonna change much, you won't make lots of money just because you read books
And that made me lose motivation towards doing these things because I know that what I need to do to go to the next level is starting a business
I have everything I need, I can't be more prepared to start a business than I am now... and for whatever reason I'm not doing it
Why am I not doing it, what keeps me stuck.. I couldn't respond to these questions, is it fear of failure, anxiety, what is it... ?
I'm still not sure yet, but something tells me is neither of those, it might be the fact that there will be no one to validate me.. There'll be no one to say that I'm doing a great job, there'll be no one to keep me accountable for the things I haven't done..
However I'm confident I'll figure it out, and once I'll have it figured out it's gonna be game over
When I started this journey I was so motivated and driven that I felt like I could do anything. It's a lot harder than I expected, you'll be going through stuff, you'll go back to some old habits and you'll ask yourself if nothing has really changed.
As much as you try you'll face your old self at some point while being on this journey, and that's gonna be tough, but as long as you don't quit you can't lose
If there's something I'm gonna do regardless of how hard it'll get is to never quit..
One the other hand here's a list of things that have changed for me in the past year:
- I am more confident than ever, especially in social interactions
- I am not as anxious as I used to be
- I learned a lot about the business world, I also had the opportunity to be in a leadership position which completely changed my mindset
- I understand my feelings a lot better
- I became wiser
Here's 10 lessons I've learned:
- Don't judge your mistakes, feeling sad or guilty for a mistake I've already made isn't gonna change anything so why putting your energy towards it
- Don't try to predict things in a negative way, just because you did something repeatedly and it went bad doesn't mean the next time you do it it'll be bad, you can't predict the future, so stop assuming how things will go
- Don't compare yourself to anyone, just because someone is smarter it doesn't mean you can't be better than them at whatever it is that you're doing, you don't know what's going on in their life that had them stuck to the level their at.
- Actually listen to what someone has to say, don't just wait for your turn to speak
- Be an observer of everything, people, your thoughts, your emotions, body language .. etc
- Don't make promises / don't claim to do things when you're excited
- Don't make it all about yourself when around other people
- Don't be afraid to be vulnerable but only with people you trust, vulnerability means maturity, not weakness
- Be honest, as honest as you can be
- Don't agree to things just because that way you avoid conflict, be a man and deal with it, say what you have to say
