Is it worth it to start a YouTube channel without monetization?

So i've been around YouTube for a big while and i was thinking that is it worth the effort to start a channel without monetization enabled?
Like 1000 subs could be done somehow, but 4K hours of watch time! that's a lot.

So i'd be overwhelming myself in creating videos and uploading without any return, so the first 4k hours of watchtime wont be paid, just views gathered gone without any $. Getting views itself is hard so imagine actually getting a video with views and not getting paid for it.

My other alternative choice is buying a monetized channel and putting all my efforts then on something that can bring me money at least. But you have to calculate your ROI here, and also get a decent channel from a trusted buyer, most are crap monetized channels that won't even do good after you buy them.

I want to go all in on YouTube really, but the fact that i would be killing myself over a channel with no return for like 6 months or idk how many months until i start making my first $ off of it is driving me crazy.

So i will leave you guys here to tell me your solutions

If I were you I would start from scratch, and now I'll explain why.
If the channel is well done and the niche is the right one you can achieve monetization from scratch in no time, I have seen with my own eyes some channels monentized after only one month.

Secondly, I wouldn't buy a pre-monetized channel again for a fundamental reason. The first few months will be even worse than starting from scratch, this happens because the Youtube algorithm has "learned" what kind of customers to show your videos. And unless extremely lucky coincidences the "old" audience will never match that of your niche. This will lead the Youtube algorithm to promote your initial videos to a type of clientele that has nothing to do with it, slowing down the interaction a lot.

i guess having an aged channel that didnt make any content is better. i have one created in 2013 with no content i am thinking of getting started from there

Every monetized YouTube channel was started non-monetized. If you have the confidence that you can create appealing & attractive video content(s), then just go ahead. And if your videos gain traction and you are good at marketing yourself, then you can monetize your YouTube videos (channel) even before the YouTube monetization happens : How ? Through affiliate marketing, referral marketing, brand sponsorships, etc.
