Hello
I am thinking to start a URL Shortener website with ads. And then pay a fraction of the amount I get to those who send traffic to my site.
Is this a good business model to work on?
How much CPM do these ad networks generally pay? ( non adult)

I had the same idea but not sure about monetization.
I even have script (core) for such service.

Its not hard to open such site.
But we have to find ideas to monetize it.
So it at least earns hosting money back (minimum).

To answer your question then about how much to pay per 1000 views, those sites have payout rate pages so you can see.

For people to use your site, it will need to pay more. Are you able to get cpm advertisers and pay higher cpm rates than them?

You make a very valid point.
Also how do you think these sites or a new site can get so many publishers to join them?
In other words... How to promote such a platform?

I would figure out your business model first and make sure you can get sufficient advertisers who pay higher cpm rates. Have you done that?

Nope I havent done that.
Thing is I want to target geos which where publishers are happy with less CPM like $2-3
I feel that getting 1000s of publishers is more important than getting advertisers. ( i still haven't tasted the waters though)
Have you been part of any such business @GringoMonkey ?

I have not done something exactly like this, but publishers will not sign up until you can pay them.

The nature of all businesses is you need to sort your business model first and that means you need to get advertisers first.

Publishers are easy, so long as you pay well and fast.

Use Google search to find where Link shorteners are being advertised, and you will know where to find publishers.
