How to work out how much a guest post link would be worth?

Hi everyone, I'm in the middle of a backlink plan and I'm on guest posting, I usually pay for outreach but now that I've learnt how to find opportunities and sites which accept posts I've decided to do it myself. Some of who I've reached out to have asked about my budget and others have given prices, how would I work out how much the link would be worth?

I've spoken to outreachers first-hand who tried doing guest posts on a few of my sites, so I've tried to take in and learn the rough template. But if they come back with a price is there a way to tell if it's worth what they're saying?

for pricing some sites give decent price and others give an over-rated price to keep the reseller out. So you have to negotiate with them not only with $, you can offer other things also, Like: link in return from another site. If you try this method your cost will reduced for sure.

Thanks for the advice mate! How would you check if the price is over-rated, by the DA/ traffic of the site?

the value of guest posts comes from 3 things IMO:

- the size / popularity of the brand of the site where you guest post (a big, popular brand will count towards the trust that google puts on the links coming from that brand, and this is a good site to get backlinks from in the form of guest posts even if the initial SEO value / traffic are minimal in the beginning. So, a good chunk of money, say few $100s up to a $1000s, is justified in this case)

- the type of link(s) - d0-follow vs nofollow - in the guest post (d-0foll-w links are obviously more valuable, so they'll cost more)

- the traffic amount and traffic value (personally, I don't understand why the traffic value is so important but a lot of BHW members that I trust consider it to be important, so there is me mentioning it... anyway, the more traffic and the higher value this traffic has the better it will, hopefully, be for your guest post once the interlinking has been done and your guest post starts ranking and send you organic traffic. Not to mention that, over time, your guest will acquire link juice if the owner has a good site structure in place and / or builds links to your guest post thus increasing its authority and thus an initial higher price being justified as well)

In general, the size of the site's brand is what will eat up most of your money, while the link type and the keywords + traffic that the site ranks for / gets could mean a few more $100s. There's been a list of prices shared here on BHW a few months ago of a SEO agency that was charging $30,000 for a backlink from Cosmopolitan, and I dare say that the brand itself is what would eat up most of the cost of that backlink. Unfortunately, I don't remember what type of backlink that was (it could have been a homepage link for all we know), but even so, it speaks to the amount of money you can expect to pay for a link on a trusted site.

But if you're dealing with sites that only have few 1000s keywords ranking in google and / or are only getting a few 1000s visitors a month I think paying $50-150 for such a link is ok

Its hard to put a price since there is so many factors that are built in but i look for the following:

Metrics - Price can often be judged on metrics but not this alone, just because a site has 70DA does not mean its a good link if it has no traffic and very few ranking keywords. Those metrics are easy to spook however if there is consistency accross all the metrics i would look at this as a positive sign. DR DA TF are the main metrics i follow.

Traffic - In my experience higher traffic sites always come with a higher cost which is expected. The exact value of this again is really for you to be the judge.

Indexed Pages - How many pages are indexed in Google.

Regular posts - How regular is the posting? Do they upload 20 - 30 articles with external links daily or is the volume much lower.

Niche - I always try to find link in a similar niche to the client if i am doing outreach. Niched sites will often come at a higher cost to general niched sites.

Site wide links - I will check sites to be sure they don't have a casino link or any other external links site wide.

Content - How is the rest of the content? I avoid sites with spun material.

Above would be the main items i would look for but there are multiple other factors which much be looked at like link placement or will the article be homepage sticky or fall back to the blog after one day. For me i just come up with my own pricing structure from experience and i decide whether the link is as valuable to me as the price being asked.

By sites authority (DA+Age) and by traffic.

we dont known how many link we buy. some people buy links according to there compagin and some buy according to website authority.

Every site has its own policy on guest posting. Some site owners charge more than they should because they simply don't accept many guest posts. Some may charge according to traffic, reputation, domain age, and other metrics.

Its not about the amount of back links loaded to your website, you should focus on relevancy and unique content. For low competition keywords get easily ranked with few niche links but few keywords need more push. Focus on homepage URL to get complete link juice to the whole website.
