Clicking on an ad just to support the site you're on is just as "bad" as using adblock -- if you click the ad with no genuine interest, you're wasting that advertiser's money. Double-edged blade there, ya see.

I'm one such person that uses adblock 100% of the time. It's my computer and I'll make the decision as to what is displayed on my computer, not the other way around.

Having said that, webmasters are just as entitled to block me from visiting their website but it's very rare to encounter that because most people understand that adblock makes up a tiny percentage of users online and it's nothing to worry about.

No-one is suggesting you work for free. We just don't want to be bombarded by advertisements. There wouldn't be a need for adblock if some webmasters didn't take their spamming of advertisements too far to begin with.

If someone comes to my website and uses adblock, I'm fine with it. I don't give it a second thought, in fact I hope they enjoy the content enough to come back and perhaps even add to the website itself for the benefit of other users.

You assumed wrong. I have the advanced web analysis scripts to monitor the visitor habits. Based on what I am seeing in the last several years, I see the strong AdBlockholes growth coming to mine and my customer's sites. The basic web stats I'm writing down here are listed here to make it easy for everyone to understand:

Education sites = few Adblockholes (1-3%).
Blog sites = more Adblockholes than education sites. (maybe 5-8%)
Network/computer/tech related sites (such as my signature below) = more than 30% Adblockholes.

It boils down to the type of web surfers who are proficient with the Internet tools to be able to install Adblock+ plugin for FF.

No-one is suggesting you work for free. We just don't want to be bombarded by advertisements. There wouldn't be a need for adblock if some webmasters didn't take their spamming of advertisements too far to begin with.

"We just don't want to be bombarded by freeloaders. There wouldn't be a need for excessive ads if some freeloaders have conscience to contribute."

I see you're the "registered BHW" member without any donation or JrVP purchases. If this BHW site helps you to make money, or educate you to be a better BHW member, at the same time, you don't want to spend one cent (or visit the interesting site from BHW's useful ads) to BHW as the contribution, then you are the "fraking a**hole freeloader" types.

I now clearly understand why there's JrVP section here on BHW that would separate real BHW members from BHW freeloaders. (I plan to join JrVP after being BHW member for 60 days.)

Jeez...You're pissed me off enough (and maybe other BHW members who frown upon your attitude). Go away from here and do something to your life that will build your conscience.

Surely it's up to the person who owns the computer whether they have adblock on or off, I can't believe the song and dance being made over this??? I personally would never use it because I always want to keep my eye out on ads adn new ideas and prosucts being advertised etc. Not because I want to click the ads of course, because I might want to look in to the product and promote it myself.

If I wasn't a marketer I would probably have it turned on. Does this mean I have no consience? I don't think so but I haven't got much of a consience anyway. However I wouldn't say it's got anything to do with me using adblock or not whether I have no conscience or not.

portalweb, you seem pretty new here and seem really quite offended by what the OP is saying. If you tihnk that because of having somethign so trivial as adblock enabled the OP has no conscience well your going to be shocked when you have a good look around this site lol.

I may be a new BHW member (never heard of BHW until after my fiasco with Wikipurists), but I know more enough about the dark side of Internet than most BHW newbies here.

This makes sense given that those surfing technology related sites are arguably going to have a better grasp on it and thus use add-ons such as adblock. I'm not sure exactly your point is on this? Stating the obvious much? Maybe you should question why people use adblock to begin with and if so in what ways can you advertise to such people. A little out of the box thinking instead of raging might help.

I'm pretty sure that by joining BHW there is not a prerequisite that you become a donor in order to use and contribute to the board. Furthermore, I cannot purchase Jr VIP because I don't meet the requirements (shouldn't a donor know this?).

Clearly the only way to contribute to BHW is by becoming a donor an having adblock enabled.

If a simple discussion on an internet forum is enough to get you "pissed off", perhaps you should spend a little of that money on a psychologist to deal with your anger and assist you with reducing personal attacks on people you do not personally know.

I purchased BHW donor BECAUSE it has benefits I need. Fortunately, I am able to afford it, with the profits made from Internet related businesses, as I have been doing it for many years. Being a BHW member, my profits have been much better now than before.

Of course, it's your choice to be a BHW serf, not me.

I don't give a damn about what you think of me. I have enough to deal with imbeciles/exploiters out there who has no real conscience. Of course, I can't appease everyone on this earth, as we are not living in utopia society.

There's an ongoing development on dealing with Adblockholes out there that would effectively bypass Adblock+ for good. Then, you'll be back to square one---watching ads again.

That "member" is me.

It's hypocrite if you want to get into peddling CPA business, wanting to get people to sign up, at the same time, you don't host any web sites, yet, at the same time, you don't want to see their ads. I considered these Adblock user types to be fraking a**holes.

My sites are very expensive to develop and to maintain. I even clicked on BHW Yahoo ads as a contribution, on top of my Donor membership.
