My bad if this has been posted/shared/banned/whatever. So here I sit on my netbook at the local library. (Remember those? It's like Google with the stuff actually printed out. And there's no porn. No good porn at least.) And I thought "Holy freaking Godzilla farts! A million niches arranged alphabetically. Print out some small flyers or cards and start shoving them in the damn books!"

Pick something, like travel. Find some CPA offers about it. Grab a stack and start shoving 'em in. Legal? I dunno, maybe not. If you're really worried about it, take them into the 'quiet reading room' or find a quiet corner and do it there. Or just stick them between the books on the shelves. Don't forget the magazines too.

It just might be crazy enough to work. I'm guessing that most of the people who still use the library as their main source of information haven't become immune to online marketing methods just yet.

Oh, and if anyone has tried this particular bum marketing method, please let us know how it worked out! (Kinda hard for it to become saturated, unless you spend all weekend driving to every library in a 100 mile radius.)

To be honest there are FAR better ways to promote CPA offline then to go to the library and stick ads in books. Think about how many people see the ad till it's removed - maybe one (the person who picks up the book).

Even if you put the flyers in between books I assure you that you will see terrible results from this.

That being said, the most important thing is to take action so whatever you do, get out there and test.

Funny idea! Maybe you could hit some book shops as well and start loading womens magazines with free trial weight loss CPA offers etc

Nice! Another thing you can do to increase conversions is instead of just putting the flyers there, integrate it into their sales. What I mean by this is after a customer finishes, the secretary or whoever can give them a small card with their personal "coupon code" for the offer.

See where I'm going with this?

Interesting, but it is a very inefficient use of your time. You'd get more leaflets distributed standing in front of the library and giving them to patrons on the way in or out. Even when using highly targeted books -- like those on dog training -- for your dog training site, the time it takes to stuff the few books isn't worth the return.

But don't give up. I remember the story about Edison's search for a filiment to use in the electric light he was inventing. One person berated him for wasting time after he had searched 10,000 different things that didn't work. Edison denied he had wasted anytime, pointing out that he had discovered 10,000 that didn't work.

Or, put another way: you gotta kiss a whole shitload of frogs before you find the missing Prince.
