It's not loading any new pages, it's all the same page. If you're using Chrome, check the Network tab and you'll see you are not downloading any new HTML or CSS as you navigate the website.
As Ashk881 put it in a much better way - it's Single Page Application and I personally have no idea if this is possible in WordPress.

Not a coder so I'm probably just too dumb to understand why I'm wrong, but I thought you want sites to load this way for SEO. Google is pushing the core web vitals that give sites an edge for loading first content quickly--isn't that what's happening with these sites and similar lazy loading that delays loading larger resources to put something on the page quickly?

I've heard a lot of good things about NextJS. Can you recommend any course or videos to learn the basics of this framework? I don't want to be a pro developer, just want to be able to set my site up and maintain it. I'm not a coder as I mentioned above.

yeah i have tried it recently and my site could boost up to 99% through Jetpack plugin, it has few options with CDN and helps to host your site images into cloud and speedup the site, btw try it

Go right to the source, NextJs.org. They even have an ecomm deployment for creating stores. There's also NextUI that allows you to theme/style your UI. I haven't tried this yet, but you could have a look at Blitzjs which provides some additional functionality commonly needed in a next app.

You will not get the same speed with WordPress only as if you use headless WordPress.
And use the multiquote function when answering multiple posts at the same time. Read this post.
