If I just download some random compilation video and reupload it would youtube know it is duplicate content?

If so how could I avoid this?

Only copyrighted content can get detected, from what I know you can get banned/suspended only if creator reports your video
Hard mission if you are a small "creator"

If the videos already exist in YouTube then it will detect them for sure. Even if you make a compilation of the already existing videos from YouTube, do a minor color change (hue, saturation, etc.), add titles and text, applied transitions, effects, etc., it will still get detected.

You Tube algorithms are so sophisticated that YouTube will warn you that your content is not original even before you hit the publish button.

Yes they do. If you reupload your channel google will delete processing saying you already have video. Another proof is copyright match system in youtube studio, that show what videos have copied your content. Also if partial. So youtube knows 100%

Yes, YouTube can detect it. Shorts can be claimed by the original owner. As they have penalty of evidence that they are the genuine owner.

If you are uploading someone else content, he can report you.

Either the algo sucks or it doesnt work, never had this happen before when fully reuploading a video

When was the last time you reuploaded the video without any copyrights issue? This copyright thing is in place since the beginning. It was only around by 2018 that You Tube introduced this tab in the dashboard for creators to detect and report duplicates. See the screenshot.

Youtube can detect duplicate videos and ranking matters a lot on the basis of how unique your video is. If you download and reupload from a popular channel then they'll get a notification in copyright section regarding your channel.

So, Youtube system can detect duplicate videos and rank them accordingly.

today, as long as you dont upload content that is copyrighted (music and movies) you can still rip off anyones video without getting any notification... so I'm wondering if they just shadow ban the vid?
