What are the common PPC mistakes?

For me it is: Not using long-tail keywords.

Choosing a bidding strategy that doesn't align with your goals.
But most of the time, the biggest mistakes happen because people don't know how to calculate their bids.

On a new Google Ads account, avoid playing around with campaign's daily budget : that nowadays gets new Google Ads accounts suspended.

Most of people don't give priority to use right negative keywords and gets lots of traffic on unwanted search queries .

Consider goals at a granular level, such as top-line business goals or marketing objectives. You can then work backwards to determine how PPC will impact the organization. Find out how many leads, sales, impressions, visits, or other key metrics you should measure.

Sending traffic to your home page instead of a landing page

using broad match without proper conversion tag setup (if your goal is conversions)

Buying cheap traffic (bots) and sending them to your website, resulting in your ad account being suspended for bot clicks!!

Not optimizing campaigns on a daily basis is the common mistake, you can not avoid it, if you do, your results will be worse.

Thinking that a high optimization score is everything and not working with negative KW's.

Probably by dumping keywords for promotion without analyzing campaign optimization.

The worst mistake I am seeing people doing in PPC, is creating their landing pages and advertising campaigns as per how they desire, without any regards for the policies of the respective advertising platform for example Google Ads, etc.
Example, keywords are about potatoes, ad headlines about fish, ad description about swimming and landing page about tables.
The algorithms of various advertising platforms such as Google Ads, Facebook Ads Microsoft Bing Ads, are nowadays quite pretty beefed up, so one has to be super careful nowadays.
