Godaddy is doing clickbait about the prices

Look at their history after they have been a publicly traded company with shareholder funds buying up competitors like Uniregistry. They spend lot's of money on advertising too, just saw an ad I didn't click on Youtube for some new payment service. They have a huge market share and brand name that people "trust". I haven't looked in awhile, but those domain auctions have no unique ID, so bidder1 versus bidder2 vs bidder3 nonsense allowed for those "approved" API users to _____ well, fill in the blank. Their hosting I sure don't get why people put up with it, other than having their domain registered with them and not knowing how to change nameservers. Their "upgraded" front end is horrible too, very confusing- perhaps on purpose. Who knows. I did some work for someone a few months ago and had to log in to their system- it was super slow and it took forever in cPanel for uploading changes to a one page html site to load. They evidently stuck them on a slow server. Ridiculous.

They advertise in the Superbowl - that's expensive - nevertheless, their low quality service should have put them on bankruptcy long time ago, people keeps buying their service - huge nonsense.

Modern times seem to impose virtue signaling all the time to satisfy Twitter and other social medias.
So marketing teams of big companies keep copying each other and take absolutely zero risk by doing the same stuff as everyone else.

But honestly who cares about the skin color of a domain owner? Imagine asking by email a webmaster if he/she is black or white to make a business decision.
As a SEO I only care if the backlink is good or not, which is maybe a bit too old school.

It's probably a generational thing. Like you said new generations want the virtue signaling, so they like everything to be really explicit (cuz they're socially inept). I see modern auto racing and people are hugging each other and being politically correct (while blatantly lying and pretending to be something they're obviously not). Several sports are like that. The stupid young ones want to see people get along and pretend like the world is a rosy place.

The new generations like the lies and fake shit. And it sells. Parents buy what they ask for.

I do agree. I feel a bit sad for the young generation who has been growing up with smartphones and its world of fakeness, instant gratification, and constant clash about stupid things. Nothing really mentally healthy.
I am absolutely grateful about how the internet offered me opportunities to work from any place around the world. But the way people are using internet those days is turning more and more into a shit show. I really limit my personal use of social medias those days.

.com domain is 39.99 and when i try to buy it it says 169.99, this is 100% clickbait
Not clickbait. You may have not read it properly. It would have been something like 39.99 for the 1st year WITH 2 years registration, etc.
