I have to agree with the brand perspective here...

It's just like the difference between going to a mall to shop vs going to a bunch of scattered small specialty shops, which is by the way how malls kill off small businesses IRL.

So "OF" in this case is the mall, also you can probably contest refunds from there.


the alterative to OF, would probably just do your own patreon, but patreon has cracked down on certain "content creators" in the past, that's why they probably did OF...

There also exists payment alternatives to Patreon like subscribestar, which is more loose in their rules I think.

That is sadly very few people who get chosen and you must be in good terms with right people, live in specific locations and create fluff content that they can add to frontpage. The recommendation box is very small and it definetly does not cater to amount of creators they have.
