I have an opportunity to buy sponsored articles for my local business from a local community website.
It is probably the biggest local website and they offer amazing deal for do follow linking articles.
Should I keep buying articles/backlinks indefinitely or are there diminishing returns on link juice?

Do not keep buying links from same site. Diversify to multiple sites.

Google doesn’t count multiple links from the same domain. If you buy multiple articles you’re wasting money in terms of SEO, but If those articles are driving traffic and conversions then I’d keep buying them.

like everyone said, only 1 backlink is enough from 1 domain, but make sure that the link is high quality, not just some footer / sidebar link somewhere where nobody sees / clicks on it.

But if you're aiming for traffic, then sure, post more articles on that site if you know those articles will bring you a constant flow of traffic. But in terms of SEO, 1 backlink is enough. This is one of the most well-known and highly agreed on parts of SEO that everyone agrees with :)

One link is good enough. If the quality of site is great and if you are sure that it will provide a great value/traffic to your site you can get up to two links from same domain. Don't add more than two. Google will consider those links as a spam if you get multiple links from the same domain.

One article only, and... Did you say "sponsored"? Meaning tagged as sponsored article? If that's the case, then weigh the business value you get from it because seo-wise it'd be not great.

i would buy at most 2 articles, each linking to a different pages on your site. that is it.

For local ranking you can use directory, local citation building for your site. this will help better than other links.
Also 1 link from 1 site is good.

Don't buy too many links from the same domain. I agree with those who said one link from one site is good.

If you want to do this for traffic then it is ok. Because 1 link from 1 domain is enough. If you buy multiple backlinks from a single domain then it is a waste of money.

If the domain is in your targeted geo, then you have the possibility to get more visitors.

And the visitors may convert to leads according to your content speaks.

As other people said, one link per domain is safe and good to have link juice from the site.
