What's up with this tiny account getting insane likes?

They've got hardly any followers and very little history or activity, but their tweets over the past couple of days have blown up to insane levels. One has 600,000 likes, another has 400k and another 200k - all within last couple of days.

Anyone got any idea what's going on? All of their previous tweets have virtually no likes or interactions. How are they doing this? Their tweets are low tier, not what I'd expected to go viral from a no-name account, especially with multiple on same day.

I guess they could be buying likes, but wouldn't buying 600k in a short space of time flag the system?

A few thoughts...

It's had larger accounts retweet them, which was then the catalyst for more people to retweet.

The owner of this account has larger accounts and/or is doing Retweet Exchanges with other larger accounts - where they will Retweet somebody else's account, and in return, that other person retweets the account in the original post.

I used to do it. You can grow 1000 followers easily within an hour doing it.

I know you said you've done it previously to increase followers, but it doesn't look like they've tried to do that, as they only have 5000. Not many considering 1.2 million likes between 3 tweets

You can go through each tweet and check for either the blue tick or check how many followers each account has - time-consuming.

They sent me a DM on Twitter, so they made the first contact.

It isn't just likes either. As well as retweets, it gets natural comments (you can tell when checking some of the profiles).

It looks to me like a network of some sort. It retweeted this account which is selling paid promotions:

The above account then followers 146 accounts and they themselves all look to have been boosted by being promoted by larger accounts.

His just paying for promo from various bigger accounts. Most likely is a member of loads of retweet groups.

in engagement groups on various platforms ( think the App Store google Twitter etc)

his literally just pumping his tweet to as many people and services as possible.

this defo won’t be a free service and he is defo tricking the Twitter algorithm into making him go viral

They are many possibilities to that, the account may be an influencer's account that got banned and they created or bought a fresh one then asked for help from their tweetdeck group to run up their accounts to atleast 20k followers. I don't think bots are involved in this and to your surprise he/she didn't pay a dime for that. I read the quoted tweets and they're all real people asking the same question.
