Hello everyone,

I have a niche site on dogs with 40 articles and even though I have done keyword research and used SEO tools it only gets about 500 visits per month. It is now 14 months old. I also have Ezoic ads on it, but I'm just making a few cents a day.

I go for long tail keywords and some are on the first page on google, but unless they are on the first or second position nobody clicks on them. The content is good and usually at least 1300 words long.

I am unsure if I should just consider this as a failed site and move on to something else.

Does anyone have any good suggestions on how I could get this site going. I know it is not easy without seeing it, but maybe someone has had a similar experience.

I have started going on Reddit and answering questions so that I can then put the link to my site. It helps get 10 more visits per day, but nothing much.

I'd be glad to get any expert opinion.

use of ahrefs are very importnt to upgeade page. Best for websites

The first step to building a successful blog is link-building. It's not just the beginning for your website, but rather an must have part

A lot of people talk about creating backlinks, which is not true. Niche sites do not need backlinks. I personally did not build a single backlink in my life for a Niche site. All the backlinks I get are completely natural, so remove the idea of backlinks from your head..

First, we do not have a lot of data. Therefore, no one can give you anything accurate, but these are some secrets that work for me and with many clever guys .

A dog niche is a bit difficult, so you have to focus on underserved topics, and I am sure that it will give results.

Try to specialize in a specific topic so that Google gives you topical authority on those topics, for example

If your site talks about dogs in general, try to specialize in puppies, less competition than dogs, then do not stop at this limit, try to specialize more, for example, shih tzu puppies. And try to cover all topics related to shih tzu.

Focus on keywords that have a monthly search rate of 0 .

The search voulume does not matter, and the number of searches is not taken into account. i have some keywords have 0 in ahrefs and other tools , but Google Search Console show that have more than 500 clicks per month.

Focus on (underserved topics) that no one has ever written on.

Try to search more for topics that no one has ever written before. There are many benefits of targeting underserved topics (appear quickly, earn Google trust quickly, your site gets visits quickly, brings you backlinks...)

Focus on informational articles more than money or affiliate articles

Money articles in the dog niche are a bit difficult, and you must have previous experience in order to compete, so it is better to focus on informational articles as much as possible.

Write unique, high-quality, and informative articles

Try to write rich articles, text , images , charts , infografics , and videos, quote from reliable sources, try to come up with something new, for example, if you are writing an article about one of the problems that puppies suffer from, you can have a dialogue with a doctor and display it on your blog post or ... Many ideas are out of the box and give crazy results, because this is increasing E-A-T , and also people love this.

I think that these points, along with some on-page seo, and some technical seo , can give impressive results.

Just do not stop writing new articles, try to follow this method and work on 100 articles, I am sure that you will get great results.

feel free to send me your site if you need More accurate analysis (I do not sell anything or provide any service)

I hope this helps

I don't get your tip about targetting 0 volume keywords. Do you mean I should write articles on keywords that have 0 search volume and in time the search volume will go up? How does that work?

There are some people who get hundreds of thousands of clicks per month using ZSV Keywords
Do a search for
" ZSV Keywords "
" zero search volume keyword "

40 articles in 14 months is pretty poor tbh. That is like less than 4 articles a month. You need more content, and also some backlinks (not that many though), build 10 solid guest posts to your homepage, use 50 forum links to further add some niche relevancy. Write more content and make sure to interlink. Ad revenue is not going to be that high unless you have a ton of content. Try to find affiliate products or offers in your niche. The easiest way is to add buying guides, or you can research your niche and see what else is out there. I always research a niche before I build a site so I know what my approach is. You can make money with ads but you'll have to focus on more content. At least 200 articles (bare minimum). You'll need some authority to get higher positions in the SERPs, or you will have to wait longer before your site ages further which is not really ideal.

yes, I’ll get some more articles up and going. I just thought that with 40 articles I would be getting a few thousand page views. I know the dog niche isn’t the best and there is a lot of competition.

The next blog will be much more specific.

You are not doing enough work on the site, its not a failed site. Unless content is shit, but you said its good one.

The dog niche is pretty solid! You can definitely make a shit ton of money. Look into pet sitting/pet care/pet products and see how you can integrate those into your site. Rare breed adoption affiliates? I am not sure if there are any of those. These are just thoughts off the top of my head. You can find easier keywords if you go more granular. For example, my buddy has an Alaskan Malamute, that is one hell of an expensive ass dog and needs a lot of care. Maybe research keywords in that vertical, then find more verticals which are underserved. You can then have 50 - 100 articles per breed and get more reach than you would for 50 - 100 general dog articles. Over time when you have 10 breeds and 50 articles each you will have excellent general topical relevancy (dogs) and also categorical/breed topical relevancy since the breed angle is already underserved. I hope that makes sense.

Woah that's something new for me. Thanks for the suggestion mate.
In fact, this is a somewhat old method, but many people did not know it, but now you have to stop writing about keywords, and start writing about entities. Entities are the future

Make sure that you are not going to build any backlinks right now, because Google will know that it is not normal. For example, if you build 10 backlinks for a page that brings you 100 visits, this means that 10% of those who enter your site have created a backlink for you, and this is not normal at all. So keep this point in mind, a lot of people don't pay attention to it...

I would add 200k more words and build links for about 10 - 15k usd (preferably mix of own PBN and smth else). You might rank with content but it will cost more time and more content. Content solo, I would not expect results below 1m words (1000 x 1000 words).

With this type of expectations, you understand why it takes 2 years to build a nice website.

Gurus say you need 30 articles to bank. They also say different stuff. Doesn't mean you should listen cause someone popular said it. And I hear it only from gurus. Real SEOs either say what I said or just advise to focus on something else.

Perfectionism is your enemy in business. There are no exact numbers. Only big and around-zero numbers. If you are inbetween, chances are you can score big numbers.
