I did my research and heard he likes fish and he will order one on that dinner so I'm

Any fine restaurant will have the fish cooked well enough so that you can peel it off from its bones with your fork while you keep it steady with the knife ( or vice-versa ).

Also, since it's a business meeting, go slow on the food. Just eat a little, whatever comes easy from the fish. The meeting is more about business, not eating.

If you know the guy, think of a few things he likes to do when he talks.

How he keeps his head, how he talks, if he does gestures with his hands. Try to replicate these movements in your mind. Even his tone of voice, how fast he talks, how slow, how he sits, everything you can imagine.

It will build rapport with him, and will greatly increase your odds.

You don't have to match your order with your client. If you aren't comfortable eating fish in a restaurant, that will show. Order whatever you like or the very least pick a fish meal, what you can eat normally, like if it were a regular piece of meat. Salmon, tuna etc. You can dodge the bullet with a tuna steak, salmon fillets for instance.

Depends on where you are located. If you are eating fish at a restaurant, it is probably acceptable to eat it with your hands in some countries. Where as eating by hand can appear to be repulsive in others.

It is only a crime if you deep fry it in old oil.

Otherwise 3.7 does not apply.

Just order Salmon and you can eat it kind of like a steak. It's actually not as fishy as most other fish. Don't order something that has the bone in it, that may make you uncomfortable in front of the client.

It is fine to eat with your hands... I've had business dinners with people from other cultures and they did that at the table with me while I used a knife and fork.

I would bet most people are open to other cultures doing as they do.

If I were you I'd start with the meeting by saying this. It says: "I have a sense of humour and can crack jokes but I also really won't pay for it if we end up not working together".

This is really a genius, Psy-ops Art of War kind of idea to give you leverage, you should do it if possible.

If you feel harassed, please use the report button as we cannot monitor every post on the forum.

It will be rejected and the staff will all have a huge laugh that you did use the report button and we will probably give you a warning for abusing staff resources (another opportunity for a huge laugh) but that is why we have a report button... for the staff to have a huge laugh now and then.
