I wrote an article and I watch it to see if I get back links to it. But so far none. How do I get back links to this the best way that won't upset google? How is this done organically? I can't seem to land even 1-backlink. Then I have hard that the type of backlink matters. Follow vs Do not follow what is the difference?

You ain't to build links at all its Google TOS but people do it because it works.In theory people link to your website because it's good resource but in reality people buy links behind the scenes.

Unless your articles are brilliant in some sense, you will never receive backlinks.
For example I like a lot gadgets and I always find some time in the weekends to tweak and reverse engineer some locked mechanisms, then I post the solutions in one personal blog and I sometimes get "free" backlinks from other people that read the solution and apply it.
But then I have dozens of blogs which mere generic content on how to purchase a good life assurance and I know for sure they will ever receive an "organic" link because it's information covered 10 zillion times by many other blogs.
So if you want to receive """""natural""""" or "organic" links you need to follow a method like mine:

Publish content people would love to link to.
If you publish an article and you´re not getting any backlinks either:
- The content is NOT what "link-creators" (this is a term coined by Brian Dean on one of his courses) would like to link to
- Finding topics authoritative and relevant sites would like to link to it´s NOT easy but leveraging the power of tools like Ahrefs or SEMrush, surely makes the process easier.
- You didn´t spend enough time promoting that content
- It´s not enough to just publish the content, you need to build "content awareness" by promoting it.
You need to make this happen!

I've got some bad news for you: nobody's going to link back to your content if they don't know it exists at least not initially.
If your content is compelling enough and you do start to rank some websites will link to you.
I have built blog networks with absolutely no backlinks and after several months I started getting links organically, it does happen but you have to be willing to wait.
A lot also turns on the quality and this, in turn, depends on the keywords you're targeting.
All of these are interrelated.
The key to speeding up your website link acquisition rate is to find people on Twitter or on other social media platforms that have blogs in your niche.
Engage with them before sending your link.
Let them know that you're legit and that you're credible and that you know what you're talking about.
Once you get on their radar on this level you can start sharing high-quality third-party content in your niche.
This way they know that you can contribute materials that are not necessarily written by you.
Once you get their trust you can massage in your links and you'd be surprised as to how many of them will end up linking to you through their blogs or at least mention your content on your social media posts.

I can't believe I use to think this, my articles were so phenomenal and not 1 link but they would still rank on google and get a little traffic but never on page 1.
