A keyword with old articles in search results

When I search for a keyword, and old articles (years old) show up as results, does that mean that keyword is easy to rank?

Time doesn't change some things like dictionary words. Just a few additions (like urban dictionary, internet slangs, etc) happen with other results remaining same. Google collects a lot of data like how many people are visiting more pages and what they are clicking. If the algo finds that the users click new posts, then new articles start ranking better.

If your article is better and more user interactive than that article, then you gotta a chance to outrank that old article.

I'd take a look at the word count of the article and see if the search intent is addressed
If the existing article is below 400W, it's a good sign to dive in and outrank that page

It means, if the newer article results are better than the older means the newer one will rank first, else the older article remains the top. It depends upon the visitors search satisfaction (value of the content).

Not necessarily, but you can create updated articles with 2022 in the title to increase click thru rate on your site in the SERPS. Since people are usually looking for the most recent content
