Does Your English Suck? We Don't Care!

Great topic! Thanks for this!
I'm a Brazilian and a Software Engineer.

Last year I decided to learn English as fluently as I can, but sometimes I feel that I'm not entire preparedly to speak.
In my Linkedin, I get several jobs offers every day and I let them pass me by because I don't feel ready..
And YES, I use always tools like google translate or deepl to support me in this journey :)

I used music and movies to improve my English. Now I want to learn Spanish. Por favor.

Great then bhw is my room to spend some hours to every week as my english sucks

if we all learn every day better english, we can travel in the world, learn more to understand and respect about other cultures and nations and hopefully the coming generations stops one day the f****** wars in the world.

Nice thread!

When I went to UK for the first time I was socket. I didn't understand the guy at hotel reception.... I was about to attend a conference and I was afraid I won't understand a thing. Then I met an online friend who I spoke to on a daily basis - he was from leeds. He told me - don't worry man, we barely understand each other here in the UK more than say 50 %, LOL!

Now, years later, I know I should avoid speaking with UK guys but I have no issues to chat with anyone.

Guys, don't worry if you don't speak English. If you have knowledge to share everyone will find a way to understand you!

well as long as the message is conveyed. i doubt there is any single person speak perfect english anyway

My English is second to none!

13 years here with "native writers" and you don't know english properly... what a shame :D

Even @Yes is very professional when it comes to english and trust me, this guy is less smart than your average joe...

Stfu. I am the average joe.

Great thread mod. I 100% agree and should be looked at admirably for knowing multiple languages.

The main difficulty is writing blog posts in English... I calculated that it took me 8x more time to "think and write in English" for a 1000 words blog post than in french, my native language. That's huge!

Strangely, there are so many services to get articles, but a lot less to proofread them. I would love an inexpensive proofreading service. "Same as Grammarly, but by humans for humans", with a pricing depending on the quality of the input text to push me to write better.

Cool,
If you have ever learnt a foreign language you know it goes the same way. Maximum fuck ups equal more learning.
So I was tolded.

happens to me with north americans. i swear, i understand the Russian guy talking broke english in an obscure 2005 software tutorial 10 times better than the few American tourists i have spoken to. i guess people just talk more clearly on tutorials.
