Does Your English Suck? We Don't Care!

I've heard good things about this novel called "Me talk pretty one day", seems it's a comedy book about a class of foreigners trying to learn English together, I'm picking it up myself.

Little backstory for you:

I used to run 3 warehouses in the freight industry and the largest one was in North Florida.

I had 2 men that "ran the floor" meaning they were in charge of any freight that came in and dispatching it as they saw fit.

One guy, Rodney, was super country and sometimes when he talked I had to ask a driver who was a friend what he said (I'd hire him again in a New York minute).

Worked out perfectly.

The other guy, Bobby, was Indosinian and had a thick accent but we all understood him, respected his call and was actually a family friend (good friend that details do not matter but I'd love to have him in our lives again as would my wife).

Dude was a beast.

Both guys did tremendous work, made my life easy as their bosses and I had to work a little to understand them.

I do the same here (all staff members do) as all should; perfect English is not going to be in every thread or post but giving it a good run to the best of your ability will generate respect for you.

Don't apologize for Non-Perfect English.

We get it and we appreciate you trying your best.

I agree with that 100% with the only exception being posting a thread offering content writing in English, mainly because this would fall under the category of offering a service that you're not 100% proficient in performing.

Especially true since grammar and spelling is becoming more important to SEO per Google themselves (whether you can ultimately decipher with the intended statement was or not)

Apart from that just about anything else, programming, data entry, copy/paste, design etc., spot on

Well see here mister, what about folks from non-english countries who specialize in writing services rather than programming, data entry etc... They should be allowed to thrive.

Not every Mahmud or Ganesh wants to do coding, some want to do writing just as good as native English writers!

In an ideal world this should be within reach. Lest they shall send all Americans back to their native homelands in Italy, the middle-east and Asia!

I'd like to believe there are plenty of non-english writers with good portfolios that get a lot of work though. Isn't that right?

I learned a little English from video games, the internet and a girlfriend who was fluent

I still have plans to study at a private school to learn fluent English

but I'm happy with the message of this topic, I know I need to learn a lot, but at least I can make people understand me most of the time

I can relate to that. I learned Spanish from Red Dead Redemption and English from GTA San Andreas when I was younger. Not sure if it was a wise choice to learn a language tho

Never said anything that even sounded remotely like "everyone from certain countries want to do coding", and I never said anything about any country of origin or ethnicity.

What I said was simply that if someone doesn't happen to be proficient in English (regardless of what country you hail from, if you speak English fluently, even if it's not your first language, this doesn't pertain to you) again if that individual does not happen to be proficient in English they should not offer writing services in English.

I speak Spanish conversationally, but I would never dream of offering a service writing content in Spanish because although I can communicate effectively in that language, if a client came to me with a real estate blog and wanted a post on foreclosures and short sales, I would not be able to properly and effectively communicate that 100% without knowing that I'm not accidentally giving wrong information or Miswording things...

Same principle applies

this is healthy tolerance. And even better when the person to whom you are tolerant is decent.
