Blogging become real pain in the ass now a days. i don't found its comfortable anymore with even hard work, i picked a niche that has less competition, wrote 38 post (average 2000 words) just got some impression and few clicks. that does not motivate me anymore.

i checked my competitors links and found they have lot of paid links ( we usually call it guest post)

and the most painful is that people who create "write for us" page, so i contact them even they also ask for money. a links on quality blogs cost usually $200+

my question is , do you rank without doing guest post? or i need to invest money? then how do a start up blogger will survive?

Google is real clown >_<

I bought a few crappy link package that I regret (disvowed most of them). I'm pretty consistent with my content, but the two main things that helped me are reddit (which is a great type of link and source of traffic), and reviewing medium size companies. In the review process I ask them a lot of questions and hyping them about it, making them share my review on their social and sites.

that's the nice technique, but reddit links are no follow and does not brings any real value to SEO, so you more preferring social traffic than SEO traffic?

No still cant buddy , hence what other links can you ranked ?

Before looking for any type of links, first consider the competition.
To make things easier for you, get a list of weak and/or new websites in your niche. Run them through ahrefs or semrush, look for keywords they rank top 10 or preferably top 5.
Write your content target those keywords, make sure your posts are long enough and well optimized.

You can rank without back links on very easy keywords, such as long tail keywords etc.

Well, you are correct, but a high quality content is really needed and the traffic is not much.

You certainly can rank without links - check out my journey.

You have to go after the lower competition keywords though. Traffic will build, you just have to keep pushing meaningful and helpful content.

If you spend time on keyword research, you don’t need any links to rank and get traffic. There are multiple journey threads here on BHW that are not doing any active link building.

I recommend focusing on finding low comp keywords. It’s easy to get traffic once you find them.

It is possible, I have a couple of really niched down directory sites (that everyone says not works, works perfectly fine) in my language that ranks position 5-6 in Google with just 7-8 articles and 5-6 free links on them that brings in around $600 each every year per site, that I made some years ago for testing. Build a bunch of those types of sites and you could get a decent side income. I really don`t do anything on them nowadays other then updating the theme and plugins, and send an invoice once per year. Total time maybe 1-2 hours per year. If I would start marketing them to businesses in the niches, I would make a lot more, I know, I´m stupid lazy.

I wish we could sticky replies to the top.

You don't need links to rank.

can you get to #1 spot without links for a real keyword?! not talking about keywords like: pink Canadian baby camel with wings.

You can rank without a backlink if those are low competitive keywords and content are user intent and you upload content regularly. But it's not the same in all cases, if the competing site is strong, then spending on quality links will boost the ranking.

Above a certain amount of upvotes they are do follow. Not really shure whats the number, but I see them in GSC.
