Hi Community,

This is my first post and I am looking for more suggestions to improve in case I have missed something.

I have a website that use to rank 1st for more than 50 keywords during 2017 - 2021.

site - nationalcarparts.co.nz

The site was built using the Avada theme. As of today, the DR is 51 according to Ahrefs. I do have gateway pages but all of them have unique content and ranked 1st for respective keywords till 2021.

Recently the site did lose tons(5k +) of backlinks from a particular site which unfortunately is no longer live(not sure if this can be a reason?)

To improve the site speed we also switched the hosting changed overall design using Elementor and got rid of Avada thinking it be a reason as Avada runs a lot of javascript and what not.

I have attached screenshots for reference of the drop from 2021 July.

I would really like some more suggestions to regain the lost 1st position rankings.

Thanks & Much Appreciated for your feedback in Advance.

Suraj.

Well, the reason is obvious from what you typed out. You lost 5k backlinks. That's a huge number even if they weren't that great.

You're going to want to improve your backlink numbers, for starters.

Make sure your site structure is superior to any competition you might have. Improve upon your sites navigation & content.

Ensure everything is top-notch & near perfect so that as your backlink numbers rise, you'll be closer to reclaiming the lost rankings.

Thanks mate.

I had almost 5-6k backlinks from this website it was just a directory site that seems to be no longer live. maybe its one of the reasons and happened coincidently after July google core update.

With the loss of backlinks and constant updates by Google to their algorithm, I'd say that's your best bet.

Ensure your on-page SEO is good, and start pumping in those backlinks. QUALITY links. Maybe even an ad campaign or a social media campaign as well.

not to scare you or anything, but I've heard that changing the theme can impact rankings. You might want to change everything back to the old setup (except for the hosting), just to see if this is the issue

Maybe but we just switched to Elementor after waiting 8 months and redesigned the site. I have made sure all Links and SEO are in place. Will work on backlinks and new blogs lets see for a month if any improvement.

At the same time, i am hoping Google updates the algorithm maybe that might fix some issues or make it worst.

it's your call, obviously. I just wanted to point out that changing theme could be a reason for the loss of your rankings. Backlinks might help alleviate the issue, as well though
