I use DeepL, the free version in the browser.
I timed myself today. It takes around 30 minutes for 1,500 words. Translatig+editing+linking out/internal+media(where it applies).

I can code a script for the translation part, but that's the least time consuming and I don't see any value. Might consider it in the future. But at least in my case, there was some editing to be done. Maybe like 10%. The problem is, to get to that 10%, you have to slowly read the article. Edit, then continue reading. Which takes time.

I went for a niche blog. I'm hoping it will compensate with the low volume I'll add.
I'm aiming at 3-5 articles per day.
My country is small, ~25 mil. people, so I'm hoping there is some affiliate money to be made, because ads pay like $4/RPM.

Any update regarding traffic? At least impressions stats from GSC ?
 
@AlbinKurti @Alexion any updates on your website's? I'm very interested in this and have almost 20-25 hours a week free to burn for the next 6 or so months which id rather spend on something constructive.


I am in india and can target any of the local languages but would probably want to go for Hindi since it's the largest spoken after English.

Any tips on what niches would do well for this kind of blogging? I'm assuming personal blogs are out since we are translating and not forming personal relationships with the reader, so health and wellness wouldn't work. Does finance niche do ok in this kind of thing or maybe IM/blogging tips kind of blogs?

Look up all the journeys about translated content in the forum.
In all of them, OP stopped updating. Even @AlbinKurti stopped the updates.

It's clear why.
Invest 30 hours into it and you won't regret it.

I imagined it wouldn't need explaining.

It's clear the success is there. I wouldn't call it overwhelming, but on volume, for some people, it's a gold mine. Especially true when you can add the edits to make it sound native.

Woww, that's definitely something to work on.

Do you think it would work when translating from other languages to English too? Or is it better for other languages due to less competition?

Also, in the beginning, should I do any keyword stuffing or link building or just focus on getting lots of content up?

Will this work in a generic niche (like health) which is best monitized with ads or is a more affiliate commision oriented blog better (say online income or finance)?

I would personally focus on a high traffic niche. So yeah, health, tech, finance would be a great idea. I'm talking from the pure perspective of monetizing with display ads.

As for links, the whole idea of translating from English to whatever country is that you can build authority with the content alone.
Every country is different. In my country, almost any keyword i punch into google returns only forums, so it's easy to rank 1-3 for pretty much anything.

EPMV is around $5, but it's free money basically.

I stopped updating because the site got stuck in google sandbox, i got no clicks and only a few impressions since last update.

I took the advice of the user above that said to do keyword research because it will speed up the process and i think he was right. So i did keyword research for this with semrush and will try to make new posts soon

Ohh I see.. hope it's a short term trouble and you get back on track asap. Will be looking out to this thread for updates, hopefully positive ones!!
 
Did this journey come to a conclusion? the posts are a lot to read through but I am interested in knowing if I can rank with translated content.

Edit: Nvm I have found OPs last update.

Same here. Tried for a project (about ~30 articles + ~10 pages), each of these articles between 500-1500 words and pages with atleast 1-2k.
I barely had 1 click/day.

Since this website didn't take off, I decided to listen to one of the users here and actually do keyword research instead of just translating content in mass.
Did keyword research with semrush and found about 10k keywords. I am manually checking them with google translate to see what keywords to use.

From now on I will translate much slower because I wont translate every article from 1 website but actually search and find good articles for the keywords and actually do SEO for them.

The moment site takes off, if it takes off I'm gonna go back to mass translating every article with no keyword research.
