Hi fellow hatters,
I have a question regarding an expired domain I bought. It has very good metrics, so I checked the backlinks that seemed ok and placed a wordpress site on it with several articles of 500-1000 words. However, almost a month has past and google still didn't index it, while bing and yahoo did. Do you think it has been delisted by google? I can't understand why the other SERP indexed the domain and Google still didn't. Thanks!

honestly.
if you submitted it manually, and it wont index after 5 minutes - 7 days. it is penalized.

I uploaded 10,000 words of unspun PLR content to an expired domain with some good metrics. Google indexed it within 5 days.
Hell, I have over 100,000 words of unspun PLR content and am currently ranking for some low comp keywords.
This wasn't some test, this is a site for social media traffic, so I never cared about Google ranking. Only reason I even used the domain was, it was in my bank of sites and easily brandable to my needs.

I told you that, to tell you this:
Unless your content is shittier than unspun PLR from 2007, then your site is penalized.
What does the wayback machine show?

thanks for the replies guys, I thought that too and usually I get domains indexed in max a couple of weeks. The domain contained 1 keyword I wanted to rank for and had very good metrics that's why it sucks that it's penalized. It's also weird that yahoo and bing pick it up and google doesn't, did this happen to you before? Wayback machine, for what I could see, was alright, although the domain wasn't used for a while, then reused for a short period lately and then dropped again, which could mean that somebody already tried to do what I'm doing now

Did you buy it is a money site or a PBN?

Have you created a GWT account for it?

The idea was to make it a money site and no, I didn't bother to create a GWT seeing that it wasn't indexing at all, but I did submit the URL.

I would go ahead and create it and if it is penalised you should see why. (If it had been purely a PBN I would have taken the loss and moved on).

Hopefully a silly question but have you checked Site:yourdomain.com

yes checked Site:yourdomain.com and nothing coming up. You are right, I'll give it the last try and create an account to see what going on

If an expired domain contains a "keyword" you want to rank for, then it's either EMD or PMD. 95% of those have been used in the past and SEOed. In most cases, very badly. Thus the penalty. Either very thoroughly check those BEFORE purchase if you can, or don't buy from people who have no idea how to check the domains or do not use them at all.

Hey @Nargil :)
yes that's right, I even knew this one had high chances to be penalized coz of some spammy links, but still wanted to try as it was too good. Btw, people if you need to buy a good expired domain, @Nargil is the right man, the domains I bought from him were all clean and indexing quickly

I am dealing with similar case right now. Bought an expired domain and interestingly, couple of articles and pages are indexed..but added +15 articles and none of them is indexed...Been trying to index it manually via GSC for a while...

So it's penalized?

I think it's 5 year old thread

The only thing I'm unclear about rules wise is: Should that guy have posted his own thread even though he was having the same problem the OP had?

5 years is a long time but to be honest, it could be either one. Post a new thread or comment on an old one.

Awesome, but right now many people are facing same thing.

Indexing issues? I know. Though, this user bought an expired domain and can't get his articles to index. I did the same thing and am not having the same problem.

I'm wondering if he has a manual action pending inside of GSC.

gsc...
and submitted via bing webmaster tools and bing gives a green light after sending urls to check

Thus is because there is indexing issue in Google. Members on BHW are also facing this .
