I know I know.... buying followers is bad.

But I have worked with a few people building personal brands and I definitely they suspect they have purchased followers just because I noticed they went from few (~2000) to almost 10k seemingly immediately and from there are steadily growing. (This is within the past 2 years)

So my question is if you are quickly trying to build social proof and buy high quality followers is buying followers a viable option? In combination with other legitimate tactics such as consistently posting good content, hashtags, interacting with similar accounts, and posting reels.

Please let me know your thoughts and experience thank you!!

Well to initially build social proof, it is in my opinion a viable option but there are (of course) caveats. Many people make the mistake to go for too many followers at once, which results in a profile with tens of thousands of followers and zero interaction. It looks suspicious.

Bottom line (in my opinion):
- as with everything, be careful and do not overuse.
- Try to get these bought followers over a period of time instead of straight away. It's weird to see a profile gain thousands of followers in a day's time.
- Keep working on getting real followers as well, bought followers are useless beyond boosting the number on your profile so in the end you'll gain little from it. It's just something you can do to get rid of the really low follower number when a profile is just starting .

It depends, if you want to use the account only to be present on social networks without using it as a way to sell or to reach new people I would say that it is the best method to build credibility. I'll give you an example I have an IG page where I sell a course, I don't need to attract customers because I already have a solid one, so I bought 25k followers to build brand credibility

Thank you!! I am curious on your page if having bought followers hurts you now from gaining new ones.

Ofc buying followers get your trust score lower so your reach gonna be limited i do not suggest to do that if you want to grow up your page

They might have bought followers, but as they're still growing steadily since 2 years, I suspect that they just bought traffic which is totally different. They could have used 2 years ago a strategy with some investment, get those 10k followers very fast (few hours or few days), then started to grow organically.

I've seen this tons of times. You grow an account fast (talking about 10-100k followers range per month), then you see that the organic reach increases as much as the page grows, making it a snowball effect.

Instead of looking at the numbers (quantity), I suggest you to look at the followers themselves (quality). You'll have your answer : did they buy followers or traffic, and what they're currently doing :)

I don't really recommend buying followers unless you are really sure of what you are doing. Instagram updates can be very disturbing.

At the beginning buy followers could be great but later you must get organically followers

This is a very helpful and thoughtful response - thank you!! :)

Yes, one girl I know in person went from 7k to 22k almost overnight but she gets good engagement... do you have any experience buying traffic? Utilizing giveaways through larger accounts and mass Dms is all I can think of.

Getting fake followers is bad but very important to take the first step. then you can reach a quality and real audience by feeding your account with quality content. Quality is always noticeable.

You should not buy

You can certainly buy followers to kick off your audience. Just keep in mind that over reliance on non organic growth will be your own undoing. Organic is slow, tedious, and a lot of work but it sure is better in the long run.

If you combine both options, it is fine, but after obtaining a large number of followers, go the organic way.

Buying followers isn't really bad. Almost every artist/influencer/entrepreneur and business does it.

Where you get them from is an important question though, high-quality followers will always stay with you, look real and make you look popular.
But if you try to cut corners and get them from an unreliable seller, that could mess things up a little bit.

There are plenty of quality services in the BHW Marketplace, you can have a look there. Pump up your followers, mix it up with quality content and organic market and you would see growth faster than ever!

Only one thing to remember: Don't order thousands of followers out of the blue.
Check the history in socialblade. Monitor how much followers are you gaining and order accordingly.
And Yes! Don't compromise when it comes to quality.
