High Volume vs High Ticket Sales - Which is Better?

Hello everyone, I'm caught in a bit of a dilemma. (Choosing a new niche).

What do you think is better?

Selling lots of small items ($10 profit per sale for example) or selling something expensive with a big markup ($1000 profit per sale?)

High ticket as long as your product’s worth paying for. It’s a pain in the ass dealing with low ticket clients so you might as well charge a premium as long as you make it worth their while.

I have a "scoring" method i use for cases like that.

On one side I put positive metrics such as search volume, market value, etc.
On the other side I put negative metrics sush as keyword difficulty.
The difference between a pos vs neg metric is that good metrics are better they higher they higher, while negative are better the lower they are.
The score is calculated like that:
(Positive1)*(positive2)*(positive3)*(1/negative1)*(1/negative2)

You can adjust the "weight" of each part by putting it to the power of 2 or 3, or square rooting it. Multiplying won't work.

It will give you a number that doesn't say anything by itself, but it's helpful when comparing a few options.

Create a spread sheet and compare search volume, keyword difficulty, profit margins etc.

I'm interested in 2 particular niches and one is high ticket and the other is high volume.

When I was at my best financially I was doing b2c and it was kinda both. Like, there was a low ticket offer and premium high ticket version. Clients were buying both and it was adding up. Really, really adding up.

My last sorta working business was b2c, hmmm, idk, it was 120-200 per hour kinda thing. That was high ticket for this industry, cheaper companies were taking 30-60 per hour, not worth it for the truble imo.

For b2b low ticket is not worth it at all, these clients have crazy high expectations.

I know what you're saying about the economy, a lot of companies (and people) are broke right now, I had cases when they want to buy but can't afford.

I would take the high volume sales way because at the end of the day there are lots of people who don't spend xxxx$ on an item or the cheap f*cks who only buy cheap stuff.

Completely agree with this. Managing peoples expectations is a big part of business.

is it actually selling your product? or just affiliate marketing?
to put it another way, are the guys who buy your problem? or someone's else problem? without more data and in a vacuum, that's probably the deciding factor.

The low ticket product can be scaled worldwide and I can build a huge email list to resell the same item over and over.

The high ticket might be a one off sale.

Depends what you're selling. I like high ticket in certain niches, but it's not going be the same for other niches.

are the dropshipping products unique in any way? or generic products? will you be able to replace the aff program if something happens to it? it would suck if you build a structure around promoting that, and the dropshipper lowered its commissions or some other problem occurred.

from what you say, you will be doing SEO right? maybe start both websites, and focus on offering and promoting your service. and if that doesn't work, you can fall back to the other plan with a foot already in. i feel like offering a specific high-value service is a field where you will have less competition and more opportunities than promoting an affiliate program (which anyone can do). plus, you can outreach and hunt clients, instead of waiting for google to have mercy and rank you.

yeah, tbh i am not the biggest fan of SEO for most stuff. is slow, expensive, and no guarantees you will be able to reach the top/keep your rank/profit while fending off the competition. if you can do outreach and social media marketing while you wait for google to do its thing, that's the priority IMO.

will he be able to offer you a margin that makes it worth it? you will have your costs if you need to reach lots of people, and i was always under the impression drop shippers worked with a rather tight margin on their prices. i guess it depends on the dropshipper or product, but i am liking a little more the high ticket idea, from what you are telling me.
