Do you have a time tracker for your employees?

My employees need to finish a task before a deadline. As long as they're not late, I don't care if they do it in 1 hour or 10 days. Has been working like a charm for me ! :)
How many employees do you have?

That's next level..

or maybe it isn't that much complex?
Not sure, we have a dedicated IT team who takes care of it.
It's integrated with their payroll and time/schedule management etc.
so it's pretty neat overall

I support this, time tracking is lame. Give the person a task and let it get done as fast as possible in the ways I specified. I don't own them, if they can accomplish my goal in 10 minutes, why ask more of their time.

I feel the same way, better to work it like this

We are against tracking. We have very simple rules which we all follow.

If you don't trust your employees then you have trust issues ( in such case consider hiring personal VooDoo) or you should look for other employees.

Fun fact: We don't have PC monitoring since we are watching porn all day anyway ( we call it "DMCA complain check").

That's a good point but time tracking doesn't have to be a bed in essence. We you is to track various aspects of work like:
  • Who works at the office and who works from home/remote location (I personally don't want to check 1000 m^2 of office space searching for someone)
  • Breaks (employees have 1 hour brake - working day is 8 hours including brake)
  • Days off (vacation, personal cases, emergencies, etc.)
  • Actual work spent on tasks (so management can make proper financial decisions - if something takes more time than it can bring value -> abandon it)
We do not:
  • Record screens/take screenshots of devices
  • Track traffic
  • Violate personal space even digitally
P.S. Some sit on porn sites all day, some are spending all day on social networks, etc. but this is part of their work.

Plus we have a shrink permanently employed :D

I mean anything apart of working hours (Entrance and leaving) is unhealthy for everyone.

That's debatable.

I wouldn't like (personally) to find out that someone spending 10 hours to write one simple snippet that can be found in one shot at SO. I don't mind seeing my team sitting all day in break room or playing table tennis/tabletop soccer as my (and others leaders) obligation is to give them to work on something but I would like to know how many man(women) hours are spent to build some app (for example).

In such case.. we are ending to what I said.. change the employee who is underperforming :)

After all.. you know the average required time to get the job done.

There are plenty of studies which ends with the conclusion that more flexibility = more productivity.

Out of my curiosity, how many remote teams / employees have you managed? Because its not about tracking the time but more about mitigating issues when they accur.

Time tracking is an important thing. No time tracking always leads to more work for employees . Thats why its mandatory in the EU since 2019

Time tracking.. mandatory in Europe. LoL?
Not really.

No time tracking always leads to more work for employees?? debatable..

Apart of that I always can make you work more without bonus or can manipulate your "tracked" working hours.

But anyway, hours tracking is useful but is NOT mandatory in EU.

Yes it is. Thats straight facts a quick Google search will tell u.
Not always but most of the time.

"Apart of that I always can make you work more without bonus or can manipulate your "tracked" working hours." Thats sounds illegal to me?

No that sound "how easy is to manipulate something".

Just because EUs higher court ordered doesn't mean that is not abusable and in fact it is from 70% of the European companies. And the fun part is that is mostly in Germany :D

I mean on papper everything looks good and pinky but we know how it is.

It's not rare when our employees leave one two hours earlier and are getting full paid working day.
