Niche marketing saturated?

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to throw a question in and I`d be really interested in your genuine opinion.

Is niche marketing getting saturated? Is it still possible to find good micro niches?

Think about it, we moved from single-word keywords to two-word and now three+ word keywords...and you try to play with either MNF or MS and what do you get? Red, red, and red again.

Where is all this going? When people search for a product they get low-quality niche websites that internet marketers designed, but no quality, no answers, just junk, junk, junk.

I wonder what`s next.

I actually don't care about easy bucks for marketers, but would like to see useful information when I search something online. Web is a beautiful thing, although some of us work hard to ruin it

it will be a long time before niche marketing becomes saturated because there are so many niches. Maybe all the most popular ones are saturated though

I think the obvious ones might be getting saturated because they're what the "experts" are using in their product examples and most people follow a method to the letter rather than tweaking it and making it their own. Fortunately those people are also the ones likely to give up when they don't have immediate success which means after a few months when a new hot method comes along, they should move on to something else and the field should open up a bit. Either way, there are SO MANY niches out there that I doubt even a fraction are being tapped.

It's pretty impossible that it get's saturated, ever. While, as already said, obvious niches have lots of competition, there is a large, interminable long-tail of microniches with a few gems in between.

The hardest part is to locate and exploit those gems right. Your skills in research, experience and, yes, even luck play a big role in this.

Nothing has got saturated and thats never going to happen.
Market trends fluctuates and so do the Demands.But innovative ideas within yourself should not get saturated. Just be ready to sell nything at any market juncture.

Niche marketing won't get saturated. Everyone still has a rock-solid chance of making good money. You might have just to dig a little deeper. And, of course, you have to tweak everything, making it YOUR methods. And don't fear competition. If you see good competition, you know there's money to be made!

Well, alright, so we agree niche are not saturated yet and there are endless possibilities and combinations. But hey, whenever we watch a niche marketing course, or listen to ANYONE explaining his/her method - what do they say? They say - I create 300 sites a month or similar. If everyone is doing this, I trust niche market will still have unlimited untapped niches, but what will happen to the internet? What will happen to people trying to find some genuine sites? I wonder. Is it like Ed from 30dc says - people are running away from the web - to facebook, because they don't have to deal with the junk that web gives them....?
It's a nice dilemma, on the one hand we are trying to make some money, on the other, we are turning internet into a very frustrating experience, thus fundamentally and quickly losing the customer...

Also, a practical question for all: how long does it take you on average to find a good niche?

Well first, I'd guess that only about 1% of marketers are creating sites at that frequency - if it's even that high. If the quality of their sites suck they will likely not make money which means they'll likely drop that site so that crap content will go away eventually.

its your motivation and mindset that limits you - if a particular niche is saturated then think niche of a niche, there is always opportunity to monetize and dominate...

just keep spinning and twisting ideas and thinking outside of the box and you will go a long way... learn by your mistakes...

Exactly. Specific keywords may become saturated, but niche markets as a whole will always remain, as new products and services are constantly being invented and developed.

It's important to not only ride a wave, but to ride in places where people won't get in your way.

As for creating a large volume of sites, I'd rather concentrate on specifics. I can manage 50 highly profitable websites much easier than I can with 300. But it's true, some IMers have a team on hand and own and run massive networks. There's just not a ton around. Maybe those keywords will become saturated, maybe they won't. Creativity and thinking outside the box is key.

Kind of.

It is. Just look at the new features that are being added to Google like the "more/less shopping sites" feature. You can be sure that this will be rolled as a way to distinguish review type sites and information-based sites.

@ the OP - Noe niche marketing will never be saturated. There is always a way to make money in niches - even the so-called over competitive ones like weight loss.

As long as people have junk to buy and people developing junk to buy, then there will be a need to buy it online.

niche marketing I think will always be there, the problem is finding the next niche and capitalizing on it or getting a tool that will find it for you.

Although infinite in theory, the amount of profitability as a sum total of all currently profitable niches is subject to the law of diminishing returns...and as another poster mentioned, market trend fluctuations ... so no ... there will ALWAYS be new niches to test and that's where future profitability lies.

So while profitable niche marketing will never dry up completely, it is also a fact that given enough time there will be less opportunities in the currently known converting markets as opposed to the currently known non-converting markets. You could plot it exponentially and view it as a bell curve. Let's hold off on math class for now though - lol

If you were to add up everyones projected goals on micro niche building on Blackhat and the Warrior forums for 2010:

The totals would be in the Hundreds of thousands of Websites that will be built for product related niches.

A recent search I did for a certain type of Toaster yielded 5 xfactor type sites on the first page of Google.

Yet thousands of people in various countries (myself included) pour through Amazons pages daily looking for new products to snatch up the domain name for.

The OP asks a really good question:
Is this really a good business model?
Will it become over-crowded in 2010?

Recently I asked a Black Hatter what he does when he is in 4th place in the serps and in 3rd place is another micro niche site.

His reply was "I blast their site with 1000 spam links and G00gle de-indexes their site"

Not only is it getting over crowded in the serps, but apparently there is NO HONOR AMONG THIEVES-

Lemme see, last night a spent about 2 hours and the same thing the night before looking for niches to build a site around. I no longer bother with any keyword that has less than 200 exact searches a day. I found:

(1) two keyword niche with 595 exact searches a day with a .org domain available.
(1) two keyword niche with 487 exact searches a day with a .org domain available
(1) two keyword niche with 325 exact searches a day with a .org domain available
(3) two keyword niches with 266 exact searches a day with all .org domains available

ALL their charts look good in Market Samuari. (mostly green, not too many backlinks, SEOTC were below 50,000.) I'm not including the ones that had potential (another dozen), that I decided were too hard to go after.

Somebody let me know when the niches run out. ;-)

Message to noobs: I'm not trying to make this sound easy, that was 4 -5 hours of work I just listed. When you put in the time for whatever you do, you'll get better at it.

Silly question! Think about it - have inventors STOPPED inventing and producing stuff? How many NEW products are brought into the market every single day?
