It's cold yes. But I am here right now. I find people really polite, things affordable considering it's next to finland and so cold. It's a beautiful city and cultural capital of Russia. I am interested in studying information security here for my masters.
Study Visa I believe. But the main reason I am here is my girlfriend here. We have been in Long Distance Relationship for 2 yrs now. I have a business in India but I think I can register a unit here as well with her help and carry on.
Actually I have seen them smiling if they understand you. The cold is usually around -5°C to -25°C in winters. And I experienced -20°C actually. After 5 mins of being outside, I couldn't smile myself. My face went numb. Maybe the extreme weather is what they're used to so that maybe one of the reasons.
I believe if USA didn't get it's shit together in next few years China will be on top of everything. And since Russia is best ally of China and ofc the top contender, they'll send idea of democracy on decline soon.
My girlfriend is here, I am from India and situation in India is getting volatile for now. Also there'll be some shit from my family's end. So I want to stay away, get my financial situation back in place and then shift in a country which seems viable after 3 yrs or so.

i am russian and i can tell it really depends on your age, on average there are people more cold than in germany & others

Agreed. I liked how they don't care about different colored people actually. They'll prefer their own without any preference towards foreigners. Not so racist as we hear in USA.

Definitely. Loved this. My ex was american and I could never prepare myself for that one. But russia always somehow felt welcoming.
