Ever considered going back to those ranking top 10 and increasing word count? (if not to improve rankings, at least to improve ad earnings?)

Yeah I thought about it and even tried it on a few top ranking articles. When I added more content, the rankings seemed to drop. Maybe it's time to try it out again. But first, I'm going to add Amazon links and ads like you suggested.

Yea I used to follow the "if it works don't touch it" rule but I noticed when doing it on my website that they do fall down sometimes for weeks even, however, they always go back up again eventually.
But ye amazon affiliate is definitely better than just ads. (Currently makes me 10x more than ads in my site despite being 50/50 buyer intent posts / informational posts)
Depending on niche you may find better affiliate programs since Amazon % is actually quite low

It could be because of Christmas - people are looking for presents and when they go to Amazon from your site they just keep on buying in bulk.

Nah, it's been 10x higher for the past 4-5 months.
While Ezoic makes me 100-200$ a month, Amazon makes me 1000-2000$

How long did it take your site to start ranking for these super low comp keywords? Was it a fresh site or?

they are super low comp yes, site was sandboxed so only started seeing actual traffic after 4-5 months, it slowly kept increasing after 4-5 months and reached peak after 8-9

Hey man I read this thread up till page 5. I still don't understand how you find keywords low enough to where you can write 150 word count article and still rank? How do you go about finding these exactly? If anyone knows how to search for REALLY low keywords please let me know I am struggling with keyword research.

So it’s essentially Google Autosuggest + Manual SERP check. I get keyword ideas/questions using Google Autosuggest and then check the competition for each keyword manually.
It takes a bit of time but it’s totally worth the effort. Tools aren’t reliable for keyword research because they don’t have accurate volume data and their difficulty scores are a joke.
PM me if you want some low comp keywords and I’ll try and find you some.

Crossed 10K Pageviews a month yesterday. I guess there was a bump in traffic because of Christmas. I've added one 5000 word post to the site last week. There's also another one that I'll add in a couple of days.

I’ve also added amazon affiliate links after what you said the last time. Let’s see if it boosts the revenue. I’ll run it for a few months and see how it does.
