Wengthemeng scam us YTSTARTUP

Obviously in hindsight it was very dumb of me to invest 4k up front especially through BTC, I guess that can be called a rookie mistake. When you see the potential in passive earnings from YouTube as many here do, the potential and greed clouds judgement very easily.

Thankfully I take the same advice in my side-hustles as most people use in gambling: "Don't spend money you can't afford to lose", so I'm not completely fucked afterwards even if the videos never made any money (or I get scammed). I'm not rich by any meaning of the word so obviously it stings.

I guess another factor that helped ease entry into this scam is that I've never seen anyone scam people and get away with it on BHW in the few years that I've lurked here, so I wouldn't have guessed it could happen to me/us, especially with a guy as well-spoken/public as wengthemeng.

I feel like most of the scammed people are similar to myself in the fact that we don't live in the U.S and have no experience with law(enforcement), especially internationally and I automatically assume it would end up costing a lot more in time, effort and money to try and do something like sue the man (especially after paying with crypto, there are no chargebacks). This definitely could be due to a falsified view of the American justice system I have solely from the media 'clickbait news' and Hollywood...

I sincerely hope he gets what's coming to him, but it does seem very bleak.

Thanks for sharing Liquardo. I'm curious though, you paid 4k in bitcoin? So this could either great or bad. Since bitcoin fluctuates so much, maybe you paid him $0 if bitcoin crashes and really lost nothing. Or maybe bitcoin will jump 300% so you really paid him 12K. Wouldn't it just have been better to pay him in actual fiat currency since it seems like fiat money is losing its value? Now if you paid him 4k in bitcoin, that must mean you have a lot of bitcoins because I doubt you'd have spent 50% or more of your bitcoin reserves to purchase something. That would seem very irresponsible. I could see ppl spending somewhere between 10% or less as play money for expenditures so maybe you have about 40K in bitcoins or more?

I don't think this belongs in this thread, but here is a short answer. He paid 4k in Bitcoin, it's worth 4k dollar it doesn't matter what happens before or after that. Liquardo could have swapped the coins to dollars before sending them, and the same goes for wengthemeng after receiving them. Also you don't have to pay from your Bitcoin savings. You can just buy bitcoins the same day and send them for payment. I know people that don't own any BTC but still pay with them.

I have to politely disagree. Comparing 4k of bitcoin is not the same as comparing 4k of actual money. Maybe it will be one day when it is universally used and accepted as the standard.

So the guy back in 2010 I believe who was the first person to use BTC in a transaction and paid 40,000 BTC for a pizza is not regretting it today?
The fact is, BTC can be worth $0 or $1 million dollars in as little as year. Money doesn't fluctuate like that ever, even if it does go up and down a little in value, it's backed by real and solid value (or at least it was when it was backed by gold).

Sorry but you didn't understand my post. When you do a transaction only the price at this moment is important. You can't compare it to future values, because it's not the future. Otherwise the whole economy doesn't make sense. I have to spend all my money today because inflation is eating the value of my money day for day. Also I should never buy any hardware because in 2 months it lost 50% of its value.

Agree if you are talking about money. It's not the same for bitcoin or any crypto.
For all we know, his 4k in bitcoin could have been purchased a couple years ago and was only $40. It's not the same as saying someone who worked a few months
at a full time job to save up 4k and then lost it vs someone who spent 2 seconds clicking on some buttons and turned $40 in to $4k.

It also reminds me of the Sovereign Republic of Sandia. You could have a million dollars of that money but what good would it be if nobody accepts it recognizes
it outside of the country of Sandia? I appreciate your opinion but I will still disagree. I don't think spending 4k in bitcoin is the same thing as spending 4k in dollars, at least not yet. I do realize Bitcoin is a lot more real than Sandia money too ^^

I worked for Jon as a thumbnail designer.
At the beginning everything was fine. I got paid on time and clients were getting their videos on time.
Then ever since the second half of summer he became a lot less intersted in the clients orders and delayed paying me for my work.
I saw channels there that were not being worked on for months I am so surprised that noone made a shitlist sooner.
A month or two ago he stopped replying to me completely just like he did to the clients and at the time I was awaiting a $750 payment from him.
I opened a shitlist and he immedietaly contacted me on his "real account" and payed me what he owed me. This is why it never became public.

Here is all the info I know

1. Jon scammed the team he was sourcing the videos from for I believe tens of thousands of dollars leaving the manager with a lot of debt. The manager then privated all the drives until Jon pays up. I believe this made him panic and he begin making up lies about how he is laying in hospital. I am very surprised why there was no shitlist for this beforehand.

2. Jon changed his Skype name on 2 accounts that he messaged me on, one from Jon Corres to Rob Yum, and another from J C to DFY.

3. He still operates a very active notion board called "Apex YTA".
This board is getting updated everyday, I believe he is working with a famous YouTube guru Caleb Maddix bc this is the name of his course and his name is even in the clients tab.
In this board there is members such as his brother Justin, and his irl friends that I will not reveal the name of as I don't know if it's allowed (i know this bc he has them in his friends list on Facebook and they are also from Las Vegas.)

I don't know how but I hope everyone can get their money back somehow.
This was a really scummy move from Jon and karma will catch up to him.

I know neither of you (@MrDenz and @YTMonetized ) mentioned @dddoyz by name - so this is not about you. I just want to point out a couple of things.

1. @dddoyz, I noticed (but didn't consider suspicious) your profile because you didn't post anything after Dec 2020 and became active again around June 2021 when wengthemeng started having his troubles. Along with that, you opened your service right after (or very close to when) wengthemeng was banned. Initially, those were red flags to me.
However, to be clear, I have bookmarked your thread as a potential video provider, and I was analyzing your posts from that angle. I am sure you understand that buyers have to do their due diligence. This is not a BST, so I will contact you regarding that separately.

2. To the rest of you: If you check the posts of dddoyz and wengthemeng, it is clear that wengthemeng's main tools were Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro X, whereas dddoyz's favorites are Videoscribe and Doodly. So, they are (most likely) not the same person.

Disclaimer: I don't know either of them. As always, do your due diligence before working with ANY service provider.
Now you mention it, Dec 2020 is when I start a project with Doodly (officially it's started on Jan 2021), and it's finished at June 2021. I think they launch PeopleBuilder (https://www.peoplebuilder.com/) on July. You can see that the character used in that software, just like what I create in my samples (psychology video)

I also provide 80% of Doodly Marketplace assets, I also provide image asset to Videoscribe on 2013, also work with Easy Sketch Pro and Explaindio.

Funny thing is, despite that I join his course, I add Jon and never got approved as friend. I message him, but never got any reply.

Well, he's probably busy or not seeing my friend request or message.
But if someone think there are Jon's team in this forum, it's not me.

Nice to see "proof" that he is just lying,
had a call with an attorney that helped me to find the right direction. There is an online formular where you can report Internet Scams - even when you are from X. They will send those reports to the right law enforcement. I'm starting to believe that the US just works like the EU.

I forgot the link:

https://www.ic3.gov/
Please, anyone who has lost money to Jon, fill out this form.

Hey guys, I'm stepping forward. Got 2 channels from him. I'll try and keep it brief.
So I bought a channel off Jon. At first everything was great. One of the videos started popping off, and since I was excited by that early success I went ahead and got another channel. There were issues with the second channel off the bat, he kept delaying the publishing of videos. Then it got demonetized, I messaged him about it and he said his team would look into it, he never got back to me. He did technically supply all videos, but one of them was to a demonetized channel.
The first channel actually was going great, and that one video that popped off actually kept on going and earning some cash. However it is a small percentage of what I actually paid him, and last week that channel got demonetized as well.
Luckily for me, I followed the rule where I made sure not to put into play cash that I could not afford to lose. It is still upsetting though to read about the scam he did to others who may not be in the same position that I am in.
Thank you for the link nalterbekannter, I'll be submitting more detailed information to them. I'm not sure what will come of it since I'm not in the USA, but I will go through the process and post any information here that may be of use to others. Even if I don't get my money back, I hope it will help others get their money back. At the very least let's make sure Jon Corres does not scam anyone further with his promise of easy YouTube riches.

I I just filed a complaint too.

I did give Jon's address, his legal business name...

I hope it will be successful

Disclaimer: I didn't get scammed by this guy but wanted to write few things as this overall related to whole BHW marketplace environment.

1. I feel you all - scammers, out of all, should go to hell.
2. This raises the importance of escrow kind of system on BHW. High ticket payments even as small as 500$ should be available to have escrow. It can be chosen - use it or not.
3. I just wonder - how did you decide to send 3k-5k in one batch to a person/business whose only real presence is on BHW marketplace. Not judging someone, but this should be a lesson, expensive one..
4. Again, this guy should get all legal 'sh1t' he deserves and I hope you get your money back.

Hmm, this is so strange. Why would he put his face online in public everywhere and then scam? Is he not a wanted felon/criminal now or is scamming actually not really illegal and the police can't or won't do anything about it? You have his face all over the place. Just arrest him? But on the other hand, everything he ever shared and talked about didn't seem unusual or suspicious. In fact, most of what he taught or shared is pretty accurate information and he knows how to make videos and how the things work on youtube.....I'm just wondering what happened. Do most scammers actually show their faces and give out their personal information? Something seems odd.

btw I never paid him anything or for any services but I have to admit I learned a lot of good tips from his posts and sharings....lots of insightful tips and skills to be a better content creator.
scammers will not care about showing their face especially a place like BHW where everyone is anonymous, him showing his face shows credibility. I'm pretty sure he will taken the money stolen and just rebrand himself and use the stolen money to fund his next business

for the people who paid using crypto has anyone tracked the movement of his wallets?

I don't think there should be an Escrow Service here, we could have used Fiverr, CC, PayPal etc. which enables most people to chargeback.

Speaking for myself, 3-5k isn't that much. When you want to conquer a new market without being involved, it costs money. I not even had the believe that those 30 Videos will generate that money back, was open to the idea to order another 200 Videos for ~20k€. He had the presence all over the place, where you find this kind of services and it felt good - from business perspective, not an irrational gut Feeling. I still believe that you can generate a good income with YT, but not with this service provider.

So far what I have learnt from this type YT Channel Scam:

  1. Buy 1 video at a time once seller deliver the ordered video then make payment for new one.
  2. Never impress with thair journey thread, if they can get that much success with their channels why they sell that services or let others to earn.
  3. If Seller have condition to buy 10 videos at a time, he must scam me in future.
  4. Its better to have some VA guy who have good experience in scripts, video software because I have checked videos of other sellers and those are not rock solid quality and feel that I can't earn easy money from those.
add what you have learnt.

Wow, this is good inside scoop. So it sounds like he had good intentions because he was delivering in the first half, but I guess we are all human and temptations got to him and he went corrupt.

I'm very surprised by this. I thought face ID would be very important and incriminating. I mean, if you think about people who have been arrested or targeted for lawsuits, they do it based on IPs, login IDs, paper documents/names, residence, bank account info etc., so if they would chase people based on these faceless stats, I can't believe that having someone's face is not even important factor. I'd figure face would be the most important factor. Especially now that we are heading into the era of A.I. where your face could literally be your ID for everything (they can track and trace everything about you just by doing a facial recognition ID scan), my money is on face ID. People forget names but people never forget faces.

not sure what you mean by this post but sounds like you have been watching too many hollywood movies. Looks like most people who got scammed paid using crypto and or not from America. He probably knows he can get away with this scam as most people will have no way to report him to the police anyway him showing his face is irrelevant. He will just take the money and switch industry scammers do this as their rebranding all the time. Scam money in X industry > reband and move to Y industry
